Last night I saw something I had never encountered before: the launch of what I'm told were probably six large drones. They really made my mouth open with astonishment. They went up very fast then changed heading and rose into the clouds. Two minutes later they were joined on the same course by some fast movers which I could hear overhead but could not see due to high cloud.
Bearing in mind that "Loose lips sink ships" (which WWII-era warning not coincidentally we began to use again after 9/11/2001), I'm not sure how much to say here. But it's natural to wonder if this activity is routine, or is stepped up because the anniversary of 9/11 is coming up, or is an answer to something specific.
Of course some of our resident experts can privately tell me if what I thought I saw was something different. Please also advise if in your opinion this shouldn't be discussed and the thread should be pulled.

Last night the puppy and I again went out to the big field where we saw the drones, in hopes of seeing more aeronautical marvels. We ran around for awhile and then I saw a big bright white light moving low in the west and coming closer. Oh, boy! What’s this? How fantastic! How exciting!
Then I realized it was just a commercial heavy that had turned on its landing lights to go into BWI Airport. I laughed at myself so you’re all welcome to do so too.
I don’t know. the guy seemed to indicate the running lights on the plane. It was his term.
