Another reason why we need the 17th amendment repealed. As it is, Senators give the biggest bang for the buck for lobbyists as it is now because Senators represent the federal government to the states rather than representing the states to the federal government.

a few years ago, the most famous saudi arabian prince made the comment that he did not have to bribe officials while they are in office, however,. because he can get them to do whatever he wants.... by merely holding out the promise that he will pay them off once their term of office is over with...

(like they bought Jimmy Carter, and apparently many more too)
