A Washington state hunter is recovering after surviving an attack by an angry black bear that chased him up a tree, chomped down on his leg and clawed him with one of its big paws.
Retiree Jerry House knows how lucky he is to have fended off the bear. He said he got the bear off him only after he kicked the animal in the nose as he hung onto a tree branch.

Bears KNOW BETTER than to try that kind of crap in Texas...we fight back.
The article does not indicate that, but if he did that, he might never admit it. Deer hunting with a bow, and no powerful rifle or hand gun, is tempting fate.
If you have been in the woods with animals about, keep in mind they can and will kill you.
Don’t expect them to care 5 minutes later.
Yes, my co worker and his friends were not looking to hurt or kill anything, but only had the weapons along in case anything came at them. He said nothing ever did, but it would only take one chance encounter to ruin their whole day.
I was a bear hunter back in the day. I had a bait eaten by a bear one morning, sixty pounds of meat. I had a lasting impression of that. These are not your normal Smokey mountain bears as Disney depictions, they will eat you. Coming down from the mountains in the spring you would think they would all be skinny, far from the truth. Some are still huge and hungry.
Bears in Texas is a new show on CBS.
Dont expect them to care 5 minutes later.
You are correct sir. I don't go out in the woods, but if I ever did, I would only go with people who know exactly what they are doing.
Sincere post you made.
Leave them alone.
The funniest comment I saw with that video was someone saying “Obviously a Canadian black bear. “Oh, hey dere... Your tree, eh? Sorry! You have a good day!”
Just wait until you have a cat in the tree watching your movements.
.................
It must be stressful knowing a cat is spying on you.
Thats what a Glock 23 is for. Humans are not animals.
Scared back to life I call it. :^)

Sounds like we'd expect from Network Television these days...<
No thanks. Don has some great parting gifts backstage.
Thanks for playing.
A .40? These must be big cats.
I’ve got a Glock 19 and I’m thinking about a Lone Wolf threaded barrel and compensator.
I also have a S&W Sigma VE .40, and hated it at first but now it’s on my nightstand.
It is. There is no feeling quite like knowing you're being stalked and hearing that occasional rustling - was that the wind? - oh, my gracious no, nothing like it. And that atavistic mental connection with ten thousand years of predecessors who didn't have the comfort of a nice Smith & Wesson at their side.
Sometimes it's your imagination. Sometimes not. ;-)
Well, these are not house cats or gifts from Egyptians.
They do exist and impossible to track. They watch you and sometimes you are not aware of it.
They don’t know you and they don’t care. They will kill you.
You might be hunting a bear or a tracked animal, a cat is none of that.
I wouldn’t go into bear or cat country without my Marlin and Ruger .45LC. I’m reminded of a Gary Larson cartoon, two large gators basking on their backs in the sun on a riverbank, digesting a couple humans they had for lunch, w/ caption:
“That was great! Soft and pink, no horns or hooves.”
