Emma Sulkowicz is turning her assault into art -- and a protest against Columbia University's sexual assault policy
On the first day of her sophomore year of college, Emma Sulkowicz was raped in her dorm room bed. The Columbia University senior says the perpetrator was a fellow student. He still is and has been since he allegedly assaulted Sulkowicz and two other female students. As Sulkowicz reported in Time earlier this year, all three cases against her offender were dismissed. So, shes not taking it anymore.
After joining a federal complaint in April over Columbias mishandling of rape cases and speaking out about the schools failure to address her assault, Sulkowicz is now embarking on yet another effort an artistic one to make change on campus. For her senior thesis project, the visual arts major will perform what she is calling an endurance art piece, in which she will carry around a standard twin-size dorm room mattress with her everywhere she goes, until her rapist is removed from school.

That doesn't disprove the accusation (nor does her claim prove it). A girl can be raped by an ex-boyfriend. She can even be raped by a current boyfriend - "rape" is the word if she clearly says "no" and he uses force. I don't know the details of their stories, but I'm not on either side so far.
************** go to the link above for more details. Sara is the pseudonym of Ms. Sulkowicz in that link. She is claiming being raped anally and more
see my #14. Basically, she waited a while to make the allegation, and the cops and the school didn’t find adequate merit in her charges.
There isn’t much information in this article.
Something smells fishy here....
+1.
The big university committees that investigate alleged rapes are kangaroo courts weighted in the girls’ favor. If Columbia dismissed charges, there was no rape.
It’s worse than we all thought. De Blasio apparently shut down the NYPD and the NY County DA’s office.

“Tom was one of Saras closest friends. Their friends were all friends. They spent a lot of time together. They werent in a relationship, but had consensual sex twice.
One night at the end of August, Sara and Tom, both juniors at Columbia, were at a party. Tom was drunk; Sara was not. Tom is tall; Sara is slight. She had nearly fainted earlier that day from dehydration and wanted to take it easy. At the end of the night, they headed back to Saras room.
Sara said, minutes in, Tom grabbed her wrists and pinned her arms behind her head. He pushed her legs against her chest and forcefully penetrated her anus. They had never had anal sex before. They had never discussed it. It was painful. Sara began to struggle, screaming at him to stop, yelling at him to get off of her. He didnt stop.
Afterwards, he laid next to her for a few seconds. They didnt speak. He abruptly got out of bed, gathered his clothes, and walked out the door, leaving a handle of vodka behind him.”

An examination of sexual assault at Columbia

If she’s not careful, she’s going to bring a slander lawsuit down on herself if the guy was acquitted in court.
I understand that, I’m just saying as a general principle women in this situation should not respect the school’s authority over criminal law matters and directly go to law enforcement.
Who cares about expulsion, why not call the cops, get him arrested, tried, and convicted.?

Can’t.
The way this works is that this is a college concern. Colleges and universities have their own police force. Even if the alledged rape happened off campus, the city cops dump it down to the campus cops.
Campus cops investigate and determine no rape actually occured, and case closed.
Some may try and get the County DA to press charges, but since the campus cops closed ther books, then....
Nothing happens.

Her pseudonym is Sara in this account written before she decided to go 100% public and put her name out there.
“Sara” (Ms. Sulkowicz) claims “Tom” raped her and two others
I don’t disagree with you.
I do have a problem with attention seekers (”The lady doth protest too much”).
For me her judgment is lacking - and suspect...
That’s her cross to ...oh, uhm...
Gotta change.
She seems a bit off.
