A certified hypnotist used his techniques to lose 70 pounds in six months.
Rob Malone, 52, of Red Bud, lost the weight between December 2012 and June 2013.
I recorded some self-hypnosis audios and put them on my phone, he said. Visualization is a big part; Id visualize myself going through the checkout line without buying anything. Thats a huge part of this. And I worked on my cravings for sugar, Snickers bars, (starchy) carbs.
He put on weight partly by eating candy. I would buy two bags of (miniature) Snickers and eat them all in two days, he said. He weighed 330 pounds by the end of 2012.
The weight led to poor sleep. Id snore so loud Id wake other people in the house; Id wake myself, he said. Probably sleep apnea because I was tired all day. Id stop at a train crossing and doze off.
He was lucky, though, because his health numbers were normal.
My numbers would come back and my doctor would look at them and ask how could I be this healthy at this weight, he said.
About two years ago, Malone owned a construction company. But after 25 years, he said he was tired and bored. He sold the company and went into training as a hypnotist. He has been certified for nearly two years. He uses the title, certified hypnotist, rather than hypnotherapist because hes not a psychological or physical therapist, he said.
He specializes in pain relief, smoking secession, ending bad habits and weight reduction.e.
