She was 27 when World War One erupted, 75 when John F. Kennedy was shot and nearly 100 when the Berlin Wall came down.
Now Leandra Becerra Lumbreras is celebrating her latest milestone becoming the oldest person who has ever lived.
According to relatives and friends, the chocolate-loving Mexican marks her 127th birthday today.
But there will not be any visits from officials at the Guinness Book of Records she lost her birth certificate while moving house 40 years ago.
Supposedly born on August 31, 1887 the year Queen Victoria celebrated her Golden Jubilee she has attributed her long life to eating well, snacking on chocolate, sleeping for days on end and never getting married, according to her family.
Mexico's El Horizonte newspaper reported that the former seamstress, from the western city of Zapopan, has already seen her five children and several of her grandchildren die.
She apparently has 73 great-grandchildren and 55 great-great-grandchildren.
Granddaughter Miriam Alvear, 43, said: "She is entirely lucid. She blows your mind with her stories from the revolution.

She's delusional.
OR, she hasn't a clue and someone is using her.
It's my guess as there is some dinero changing hands there.
Actually I think she is 137. You know how women lie about their age.
She doesn’t look a day older than 150.
especially since she was never married,....so they are all bastards.
I've seen MUCH uglier people MUCH younger.
At least she still has her eyes. She has her nose, ears, mouth, hair with no obvious deformities . I'd say that she doesn't look so bad for 80 years old even.
I bet that someone is using her and making some dinero off the poor old woman.
How does SHE know to call into the newspaper and spout off about her age? I bet she can hardly hear, see or talk. She is being used.
MOST old people lose their looks, if they ever had any. We Americans worship youth; we say old = ugly and we hate wrinkles.
Lol. Too bad we are living so long since MOST of us are destined to be as "ugly" as she is.
“Chee doan need no steenkin’ peppers!”
The chances that these heirs all had their children in the late childbearing years is rather absurd for the times.
I'd say....take 10 years off each step
The granddaughter was born in 1971...say her mom (her daughter) was 30 so she was born in 1941 and this 127 year old was 30 so she was born in 1911.....The lady is more likely closer to 103.
Contrary to some I’m going to say I believe her. It doesn’t hurt a thing to believe her, and she looks old enough to be dead, so Yeah, I believe her.
The Catholic Church used to keep good records of baptismal certificates assuming she was Catholic.
I’d like to hear her stories of the Revolution. I worked with an old guy nicknamed Mighty Mouse who was from Parrel and had a photo of himself at age 16 with Villa and other soldiers. He decided to get out before the Columbus raid and went to work at the mine. His stories, however got better with each beer after work.
Zapotan is in Jalisco state. I just checked on FamilySearch.org and they have baptismal records for the parish of Zapotan dating back to 1637 online...so it should not be hard to verify her date of birth (assuming her parents had her baptized).
I worked as a claims rep for Social Security back in the early 70s.
Baptismal Records were one of the common tools we used to establish age. I was also surprised at just how good Mississippi Black School records were for just after 1900.
Just looked at some of the 1887 baptismal records for Zapopan. Very longwinded entries and the handwriting is not that easy to read so I am not inclined to search through them (when it is not likely this lady was actually born in 1887). I’ve looked at other 19th-century Catholic church records on FamilySearch (in a European country) which were more clearly presented and much easier to search through.
I suppose that would be tough going for even a native Spanish speaker.
...and they all are illegal aliens in the US getting welfare.
The Dems will nominate her to succeed Obama...
She should try contact the people who presented Obama’s birf certificate...
