Lots of people don’t like the Matt Smith Doctor but he really worked well with Amy and Rory (and River). He was clownish but he was actually one of the darker Doctors which was explained in the Day of the Doctor.
He was the one who remembered the name of everyone of the billions who died when he destroyed Gallefrey. They all remembered but he was the one who knew the exact number.

BBC has been on pretty much non-stop at our house this week. My oldest daughter is the true Whovian at our house. Almost every shirt she owns is Doctor related. ‘Don’t blink.’, ‘Bowties are cool!’ That sort of thing. She gives me almost hourly updates on how much longer we have to wait for Saturday night. I love having something that we can all watch together. Even my little kids enjoy it and any adult references go right over their head.

I am definitely looking forward to the return of Doctor Who and Peter Capadi’s take on the character, especially since it looks like he’ll be drastically different from the last version, and its overdue after Matt Smith essentially started off as a younger clone of Tennant’s version.
However, I’m NOT looking forward to the first episode since I found out will be the return of the annoying inner-species lesbian couple and their sontaran butler. I’m sick to death of them! Seriously, I haven’t met anyone who is a “fan” of them but the BBC insists they’re hugely popular and people want a spinoff with the trio. I wish they’d give them a spinoff if it meant getting off Doctor Who permanently.

The show almost died at birth when it premiered the same day as the Kennedy Assasination. (It was big news in GB too)
The movie about the show beginnings is just starting.

Master returns? I thought Moffet said he wouldn’t, but that’s okay, I would like to see him return. Hopefully with a new face. Nothing against the previous, just would like someone with a little more gravitas, not look like a skatepunk.

Some camps also suggested a woman doctor but that would have ended it for me
Same here, although, I would love to see a new incarnation of Romanna [sic].

I dislike the lesbian couple, too. If she was really an evolved lizard-person, her lesbian lover should be in agony (or dead) from having "relations" with that Silurian... I know, it's only fantasy, but...DW tries to pretend it has some science in its show...
But I love Strax! I wish he was companion for the Doctor, and constant idiot foil. His dialog just cracks me up, not knowing the difference between human sexes, constantly prone to violent urges, but polite about it. He's great!

See? There’s a bit of trivia I didn’t know but my daughter probably does. :0) I’ll have to ask her tomorrow. We love Strax here, too. Common joke around here. “Fine, I’ll just be outside playing with my grenades.” or something along those lines.

It’s really good up until Voyage Of The Damned (Christmas Special 2007; after the end of Season 3). From there its a bit downhill.
