“Eye for an eye is quite just”.
Okey doke...if we are all prepared to live by that law. But think about what you are saying and the affect on civilization as we know it in this country.
No. No one should be tortured in custody. Rape is a form of torture
If the people do not have the courage to give harsh sentences, it is not up to the prisoners to do the dirty work.
We live in a culture with no courage.
Aw, gee, too bad.
I hear a tiny violin playing in the distance.
People have become too gutless to maintain civilization at all.
Where we once judged actions we now dither over whether we should judge at all.
We weep for the poor predator and say that if only his victim had not provoked him by being where he was then the tragedy would not have happened. The predator was just another victim. He should be given warm milk and cookies.
When someone suggests that maybe the predator should be dealt with so there are not more victims they are treated as the true villain.
And so for want of courage civilization is being lost as the predators become bolder and the protectors are silenced.
“People have become too gutless to maintain civilization at all.”
If we were talking about Ferguson, Mo. I would not argue.
But we are on a different subject.
My attitude is this...give the perpretrator an adequate sentence. And don’t add to that sentence with vigilante justice. In any form.
I don’t feel he should be given milk and cookies or become a victim. Conversely...I don’t believe in “jailhouse justice”.
From what I read, the crime of “sexual predator” encompasses a huge range of crimes. From “ Romeo & Juliette” to exposure or peeing on the side of the road. Many plead out because they are afraid of a jury trial. The article is pretty brief. The guy may be as guilty as sin for all I know (or you know) But all it takes is an accusation. That could happen to you or me or anybody. So be careful about saying you are willing to take a punishment such as rape in addition to incarceration.
The guy is going to prison. That is his sentence. And if the guy is guilty of the worst of the worst...prison is what his sentence is.
"Hey, we all need friends in here. I could be a friend to you"
even Dr. Spock’s kids, said he was a terrible father.
He may have been raped with a broom handle or a bottle.
That’s what they did to Dahmer.
He got what he did to the children. Quite apropos, I’d say.
“even Dr. Spocks kids, said he was a terrible father.”
I did not know this. Still I’d rather have Dr. Spock over Dr. Kinsey as a father.
There's that word "together". If we give the little thugs very small private cells, with solitary confinement 23 hours a day, and stagger their hour out so that we let fewer of them out at any one time, they should be much safer. They will be alone and therefore safe most of the time. When out, there will be fewer to watch, and we can keep them safe. They may be miserable being alone so much, but I'm okay with that.
However I did state that is that eye for an eye is just.
When you wander away from that in any direction then you are wandering away from civilization. Justice must not either over or under sentence but the punishment should fit what the person has done. For rape the sentence should be death because you killed who the victim was. After surviving a rape the victim will have a long climb back to anywhere that resembles who they were and they will never get there. They have been changed.
From what I read, the crime of sexual predator encompasses a huge range of crimes. From Romeo & Juliette to exposure or peeing on the side of the road.
Child rape however does not encompass a huge range of crimes. And that is what he pleaded guilty of doing.
Their own private little room on the public dime.
nah.
Hard labor. Bring back making little rocks out of big rocks on a chain gang, and house them in tents. And if you get corrupt DAS like Nifong or corrupt judges, throw them on the chain gang too.
I don’t go along with today’s air conditioned hotel prisons. No sale.
He wasn't executed.
Prisons use power to maintain the status quo. Race fixated gangs are played off one another to distract the masses from having disputes with the prison officials.
Rape is used as a reward and a form of abuse. Prison officials look the other way while prisoners are subjugated and abused. It "keeps them in line". Even murders in prison don't warrant full investigation or prosecution.
I have wondered if the use of the death penalty should be expanded. Not that I think crime is more prevalent, per capita, than in the past...but because the population has risen and crime along with it.
If, or when that happens, that should be the penalty. The only “over and above” would be the incarceration. Nothing more.
