A photograph is never sufficiently proportional to truth. The truth the full story, the context of things is too large and complicated to be encompassed by any single image. So from Ferguson, Mo., where daily protests have erupted after Saturdays police shooting of an unarmed African American teenager, we get only photographic data points.
A man lights a rag in a bottle and prepares to throw a Molotov cocktail; militarized police sit atop armored vehicles, guns drawn and aimed at protestors who have their hands raised. Both are volatile images, and both confirm aspects of the truth: There are provocateurs among the mostly peaceful protestors, and the police have adopted a terrifyingly aggressive posture in relation to the citizens they supposedly serve.
But these images arent coming from Egypt or the Gaza Strip or Ukraine. These are our own, homegrown documents of social unrest and they cant, like images from more distant lands, be kept safely at bay.
The manipulation of photography has become so complex and widespread that images from conflict zones often tend to cancel each other out. Propaganda has trickled down from the state to the D.I.Y. level, and its hard to tell the difference between the two.
The resulting frustration, our inability to be certain of the authenticity of the image and the accuracy of the caption, is in many ways a relief: If we cant be sure whether the bloodied corpse of a dead child was the result of a bomb from Hamas, or the Israeli army, we push it aside, grateful not to have to take a moral position on the conflict. The self-canceling nature of images releases us from the responsibility to think things through.

Liberals are solely at fault for the trampling of press freedom by the Obama Administration. The media have only recently come to understand that the Obama Administration is not "the most-transparent administration in the history of the United States" as it claimed it would be. The Obama Administration has spent the last five plus years trampling Americans' constitutional rights, freedoms, and liberties and the mainstream media are just know getting around to noticing it? The Obama Administration would not have been able to trample Americans' rights if the media weren't complicit in the Administration's lawless behavior for so long. The founding fathers gave the press special constitutional protections via the First Amendment so that the media could be watchdogs of government. The founders DID NOT give special constitutional protections to the press so their members could be lap dogs for certain government politicians ans policies. We need to demand that the media get back to its proper constitutional role. (I know, there's almost NO CHANCE that that'll actually happen.)/rwa
Ask George Zimmerman, he might know.
“We need to demand that the media get back to its proper constitutional role. (I know, there’s almost NO CHANCE that that’ll actually happen.)/rwa”

Of course, that will not happen. The Marxist/Communist takeover of America depends on their control of the media and education. They know that they are the keys to control.
unfiltered, uncomfortable truths???
Here’s the biggest one, but the media will never tell it.
No other ethnic racial/ethnic group has a serious problem with the police, the only group that does is blacks. And this group is also the group most involved in violent criminal behavior.
Black culture is a veritable petrie dish for fostering violent criminal behavior.
BTW, if a few more cities start to burn, the Democrats may find themselves in a little trouble come November.
They behave like a bunch of animals. It’s that liberal mentality. Everyone owes them so they just take what they want. These people are disgusting.
The Party of Detroit has f’d up royally.
The journalists have only themselves to blame. For five years they've been running around on their tingly legs drooling for a nod from Obama, their editors satisfied with covering the First Lady's wardrobe or latest vacation. Well, welcome to middle America outside of the big city. Now go do your jobs - limited access shouldn't stop a good journalism and neither should an editor.
Some people are takers.... Others are givers.... These images show born, cradle to grave takers.
Yes. That’s really the “uncomfortable” truth.
Is it ‘Black Friday’ again, already?
Seriously, isn’t it great how some Fergusonians can set aside their anger and outrage to boost the local economy by doing a little early AM shopping? ;^\
The only thing that will bring peace is if the cop that did the shooting is black. Or they think they have enough stuff from their looting.
The looters do not appear to be breaking into sporting goods or gun shops...not arming themselves....
Sorry barry, no reicshtag fire....nothing to see here, move along.
Your federally equipped “local” police/swat guys look really good.
KYPD
Islamic terrorists are there fanning the flames.
We all know they are here in America.
Try this in my neighborhood and you would be down w 1 shot and shipped hometown momma in a Box.
Did you say monkey? Oh my..............
The reason[s] I say that the police did not want an early end to are: 1. Within minutes after the burning and looting began, they would have contacted the Civil authorities and requested a curfew, and enforced it. They would have been no second or third nights. 2. The Civil authorities would have contacted the Governor and requested that he declare a State of Emergency for the area , Impose Martial Law, and call up the National Guard. The Guard would have set up and policed the area and the police could have gone about other law enforcement tasks. There would have been no second night, or third. By now, everything would have been back to normal. But then, the police would ,a/k/a Obama's well armed and well funded security force would not have had a chance to strut their stuff.
