President Obama said today the military and humanitarian assistance to protect an Iraqi religious minority group under siege by a terrorist organization had been a success.
The airdrops delivered more than 114,000 meals and 35,000 gallons of fresh water to the Yadizis, Obama told reporters at a news conference during his vacation on Marthas Vineyard.
The Yazidis faced a terrible choice -- starve on the mountain or be killed by ISIL terrorists on the ground. Thats when America came to help, Obama said.
The bottom line is: the situation on the mountain has greatly improved and Americans should be very proud of our efforts,Obama said, adding I could not be prouder of the men and women of our military who carried out this humanitarian operation almost flawlessly.
Following the advancement of the terrorist group ISIS toward the Iraqi city of Erbil, President Obama last week authorized a series of targeted airstrikes which he said successfully eliminated some munitions stockpiles and helped protect American interests from attacks.
The president has insisted that there is no American military solution to the crisis in Iraq and has promised not to send ground troops back into combat. It was unlikely that air drops would need to continue and assessment teams would leave Iraq in the coming days," he said today.

IS standing for Islamic Savages. Perfect. That’s how I’ll describe them from now on. Do you want credit for the descrption in the future? I didn’t credit you when I already used it on this thread.
No credit necessary. I’m just glad to be of service.
Typical liberal solution - they provided welfare and will keep providing welfare. They have no interest in dealing with root problem. Military solution is the only solution in dealing with ISIS. One can argue it shouldn’t be US but someone will have to kill them. I think a coalition of countries should provide air strikes but no ground troops. The Iraqi and Syrian military should deal with them on the ground.
The great profit Bill tried to tell us "That all depends on what IS, is".
Sin-jar sounds like a jar full of cash sitting on Obama’s desk.
So the Yadizis are safe...but no mention of how the Christians are doing? Guess the Christians are not worth Obama’s help.
Have they returned to their homes. IF not Obammy has not done shyte yet.
Obama should get some homosexual over at the Pentagon to put him in for a Congressional Medal of Honor or if that too wierd talk to frenchy over at the State dept about nominating Valerie Jarrett for a matching set of purple hearts.
THAT is *it*, in a nutshell!
The Syrian Kurds broke the siege. Our airstrikes did help, but Obama is (surprise) trying to get credit for the stunning and unexpected intervention of the Syrian Kurds.
I read someplace that the savages themselves prefer to be called IS for Islamic State. Glad they finally decided on one name.
I assume you mean that no one was left behind, and all were given the opportunity to give their loved ones a proper burial. You know, what civilized folks tend to do?
Or is only the "thought" that counts?
Are the MMMs all gone from anywhere near Mt. Sinjar now?
I prefer the label "MMM," which is an all-purpose name for the two legged animals whose prime activity is mayhem and wanton murder, wherever in the world they happen to be.
Butchering children, as well as men and women, whether in GAZA, Syria, or Iraq is all I need to know.
No! Bammy said so! /sarc
You want to do something intelligent than give tanks, heavy artillery, gunships, ammo, war fighting capability to the Kurds and let them secure all of northern Iraq eastern Syria.
The only thing he broke was possibly some wind. Incompetent idiot.
