personally I think the statement that it was the worlds oldest European eel lacks proof, but why would that stop anyone.

Yes, but it is highly unlikely anyone will come forward and claim their eel is older.

for an animal that normally lives 7 years, living over 100 is quite remarkable. Now if I can only figure out how to get my coonhound to do that.

Åle the eel, as he was called, (ål is Swedish for eel)

I once had a dog named dog the dog.

“It had apparently been there for a while and had basically boiled.”
That’s one heck of a slow simmer.

personally I think the statement that it was the worlds oldest European eel lacks proof, but why would that stop anyone. I'm more inclined to believe the claimed age of the eel, which will soon be scientifically affirmed than the claimed citizenship of Barack Obama which still lacks acceptable scientific confirmation.

They say it comes in threes: Willams, Bacall and now Åle the eel.

Perhaps you misunderstand me, I am not doubting the age of the eel, I am doubting the veracity that it was the worlds oldest European eel. It's akin to the globull warming crowd claiming a particular, day, week, year the warmest on record when they have limited records to point to.
