The College Board has changed the framework for the U.S. Advanced Placement History exam and has released a practice exam. I have just glanced at it, but the reading passage for questions 18-20, from "Impossible Subjects: Illegal Aliens and the Making of Modern America" by Mae Ngai are interesting.

Don’t tell me, everything is the US’ fault.

If this is the changed test that I’ve been reading about, it is no longer history. History is supposed to be based on what really happened in the past.

The use of ellipses to shorten the writing (or get the writing to say what you want) is jarring. What answer do they want for #19? The target of the 1924 Immigration Act was Jews, primarily, and any group that would not maintain the homogeny of the US, secondarily. But the Act was an extension of previous laws and was first suggested before WWI, so I can’t find an appropriate answer...

As an APUSH teacher, I’ll say this; they certainly dumbed it down.

I skimmed the entire exam. Is it any wonder that the majority of this exam covers a mostly *progressive* view of American History?

There’s my answer, APUSH is what has been in the news. Just didn’t recognize APUSH all spelled out in non-acronym.

Oh my...i started taking the test, and it is SO subjective. I could tell WHICH answer they WANTED, because the objective answer wasn’t even available in many cases. I could see where it was going almost from the very beginning.

I am sure I could get 100% on this test, if I were a duplicitous and fawning liberal brainwashed sycophantic.

Sad.
