In that photo, Truman looks like the nephew of Foghorm Leghorn in those Loony Tunes cartoons. LOL.

Yeah. Democrat Presidents (as a rule) run with naive idiot Vice Presidents. Remember Harry was fit to be tied over the discovery of the Atomic bomb (he was deliberately kept out of the intel loop), then authorized it for Japan. Harry was an idiot like Biden, he was pissed because Taiwan marched the goose step during the Korean war (Allies) and he fired MacArthur for the Atomic bomb suggestion.

That's him!

It's the round glasses that do it, I guess. LOL.

Truman was actually a very effective and honest senator. Prewar, we gained public attention for fighting waste in defense contracting, making sure the public got something like a dollar’s worth of goods for a dollar. He was selected to be vice president in a back room deal in 1944 because Democratic Party bosses feared that Roosevelt would not survive his fourth term and did not want Soviet sympathizer and fellow traveler Henry Wallace to become president. The difference between Wallace and Truman is like the difference between Obama and JFK.

For all his faults, there is no doubt that Truman loved his country. Truman loved and admired her armed forces as well. He served in combat as an artillery captain in France. Truman was far from alone in his inability to esteem General MacArthur as only MacArthur could, and among those who shared his estimation were a great many senior military officers.

Truman got so many of the big issues right: his estimation of Stalin, his integration of the armed forces, his recognition of Israel. Perhaps there is some ideal president who could have done everything better, but in all likelihood any other president would have made far more missteps than Truman did while playing his hand without the benefit of hindsight.

... and don’t forget the A-Bomb. Thank God for Harry Truman.

Guess that was HST’s version of MM and JFK and Happy Birthday Miiiiissster President.

But I doubt HST carried the ‘joke’ much further than where he is sitting.

Someone compared him to Joe Biden....

About the ‘only’ thing he and Joe have in common is they ride the train (well joebama claims to ride the train).

HST took the train home and dismissed his SS detail..etc..

Some WP Music Critic ‘dissed’ Margaret Truman’s (daughter) singing/piano playing and HST was ready to take him to the wood shed.

Believe the ‘reason behind the firing was Mac had made a statement about making some SOB wait for him “Do you know who I am”?

Couple days later Mac was late for a meeting with HST.

Guess Harry figured Mac was calling him an SOB....

Back in the day, men had actual talent. They could play instruments or dance or sing or played sports. Nowadays, the only curriculum vitae one needs to become president is a piece of paper with an Ivy league college name on it and a few months of volunteering. How far have we fallen.

But I give Harry Truman credit for using the bomb. I think he was the last good Dem president.

Harry Truman had the courage to make a decision and then stick with it. Try finding that in our current President.

I think he was the last good Dem president.

He was also the last one who never darkened the door of a university.

If there was no A me and my siblings would never have been born. My father came out of the European theatre without a scratch, but would probably be killed in the pacific theatre as he was due to be shipped out for the proposed invasion of Japan.

Truman had his faults but he was no Joe Biden.

I think he was the last good Dem president.

Despite his moral failings, I might add JFK. Certainly, none since then have been worth a damn.

HT was NO idiot.

He is one of America’s best Presidents.

For my money, it’s Washington, Lincoln and Truman in THAT order.

Though he was a Democrat... he LOVED America and was tough as nails!

He was his own man and did not shy away from responsibility! To THIS date no President ever had a more difficult decision to make and he handled it with character and resolution.
