If the mascot gets replaced they really need to replace it with this one just to tick off the Leftists.

What would be cool is if the guys on Duck Dynasty wore the shirts. That would make liberal heads explode. Then again, it would likely be good for the company’s business.
To: ConservativeStatement
I’m wearing a Duck Dynasty shirt right now. I bought a half dozen more for my dad’s birthday.

Phil played football. Imagine if he mocked the concept by wearing a shirt.
To: RginTN
Yea - it’s supposed to be insulting. There’s an amusing exchange going on in the comments at the link between some guy and someone identifying as an Indian. The Indian is increasingly agitated that no one is showing outrage over this “obvious” offense.
I bet that I can guess at his political persuasion... ;’)

Just a wonderful side effect of not being offended by it. I describe myself as a redneck.

Hmmm... The “Washington Rednecks”... It kinda has a nice ring to it.
To: ConservativeStatement
FYI: People that are Rednecks label themselves as such and are proud of it.
e.g. Jeff Foxworthy.
To: VanDeKoik
And it doesn’t have a damn thing to do with being southern.

The biggest insult is the fact that the guy doesn’t look like an redneck he looks more like a hippie or even an Indian.

(No idea if this violates trademark law, but if it does, and a judge does not overturn the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office's ruling canceling the Redskins' trademark registration, there's nothing the team would be able to do about it.)Ryan Wilson is indeed totally ignorant about trademark law. He completely misunderstands the fact that the Redskins still have rights in their trademark regardless of the actions of the USPTO. There is plenty that the team can do to protect those rights.
But of course it does not seem to have occurred to Ryan Wilson that if he is completely ignorant about a subject, he probably shouldn't write about it and proclaim his ignorance to the whole world.
Then again, he writes for a CBS web site, where "fake but accurate" is apparently still the guiding principle.

The story of the Fighting Whities is one that should be remembered by Redskin detractors. They were trying to insult whites and provoke a reaction. They did, whites liked the name and bought a lot of T-shirts.
The plan to insult whites in the same way the minority students perceived Native Americans being insulted backfired on the group when the team's popularity skyrocketed.
