The University of Minnesota is working with the Minnesota Vikings in an effort to keep the Washington Redskins name from being used in promotional and game date materials during the NFL teams Nov. 2 game at the schools stadium in Minneapolis, according to an Aug. 1 letter from university President Eric W. Kaler to U.S. Rep. Betty McCollum (D-Minn.).

What about Colts? Isn’t that offensive to fillies? What happens if a woman tries out for the Colts and has to endure sexism with that name. Same with Cowboys. End sexism in America, now.
Cool letter, BTW. :-)

As a person with viking heritage, I am offended by the use of the name Vikings and I find it to be very discriminatory. I demand all use of the name Vikings to cease immediately.

Well I can't justify Ventura, but Coleman was robbed. He was the winner election night.

Patriots played The Redskins last night and the name hasn’t been banned in stories online on the Boston Herald and ESPN.

If someone says "Redskins" at the stadium will they be ejected for hate speech? I think the fans should do a war dance, whoop like Indians and do tomahawk chops!

Double standard. Dressing as Vikings is okay, but Redskins isn't.

And going on to primary and secondary schools, all of those Crusaders have “got to go”.

I have become an avid Redskins fan, Chiefs fan, Cleveland Indians fan, and Blackhawk fan. Fanning the flames of hate, the left just won’t give up! The Great OZ has spoken.

The Redskin’s should change their name for that game to “Freedom of Speech”.

I agree.... I remember the votes after that once Franken started disputing the results. All the votes went to Franken when they started “counting” them. The democrat party in that state has no shame... they also have no soul.

My husband is from Minnesota. Beautiful state run by Loons. Of course that is the state bird.

I saw CBS sports use “Skins” in a headline to discuss this story. All we need is “Shirts.”

Yep... we're next door. At least we have Scott Walker, as governor, cleaning up the mess that Jim Doyle left behind.
Blessings to you.

Chin Up! Duluth did elect a Republican Congressman. Don’t know if he will be re-elected.
