There was uproar in Saudi Arabia after a female news anchor appeared on national television without wearing a headscarf. The news anchor, name undisclosed, read the headlines for the Al Ekhbariya news channel. Probably the only reason she was allowed to appear on a Saudi channel without the headscarf was that she read news from a London studio.
The The "uncovered" girl, whose body is completely covered in a jacket until the neck, has now become a part of a national scandal for the orthodox Muslim country. She apparently wore a hijab on her previous reading sessions as photos appeared online suggesting so. Saudi Arabia, a strictly Islamic country, formed its national legal system on the basis of the Islamic Sharia law. According to the Holy Quran, women are advised to wear "modest" clothes, a term often interpreted differently in various reasons.
In Saudi Arabia, women are strongly advised to cover themselves in clothes. They are required to wear headscarves along with full-length abayas and veils. There may be legal actions against women who do not dress "modestly" in Saudi Arabia. "Immodest" clothing may include not wearing the headscarf.

Easy to say, but the Saudi morality police can be brutal!

Saudi Arabia is now considered a moderate islamic country.
Spent a week in Dubai, the nearby playground of rich Saudis, earlier this year. One evening while on a "desert safari" I got to know three Saudi ladies who appeared to be in their 30's.Intelligent,perfect English, dressed in fairly conservative, but modern, casual wear (slacks, blouse, etc). And they were gorgeous...and young enough to be my daughters. They didn't strike me as the type who enjoyed wearing those black burlap sacks. At one point I asked them what brought them to Dubai they replied,in unison,"because this is where we come to have fun"
The only Saudis I've ever interacted with...a big surprise for sure.
She’s quite beautiful.
Scandalous!!
Yeah. Next thing you know, they’ll be showing their ankles...
That’s a stoning offense!
Imagine the uproar if a Miley Cyrus video was broadcast in Saudi Arabia.
Tomorrow we’ll see her head on a stick, paraded around by chanting religious zombies.
It was broadcast in Saudi Arabia, but the section was actually recorded at a London studio.
