Last month, Kiss singer Gene Simmons falsely claimed that the wealthiest one percent paid 80 percent of "all taxes" and created "all the jobs."
Eager to spread more love, Simmons recently teed off on his former Kiss band mates Peter Criss and Ace Frehley, and anyone suffering from depression or drug addiction.
When asked by SongFacts.com if he still gets along with Criss or Frehley these days, Simmons responded, "No, I don't get along with anybody who's a drug addict and has a dark cloud over their head and sees themselves as a victim."
"Drug addicts and alcoholics are always: 'The world is a harsh place.' My mother was in a concentration camp in Nazi Germany," added Simmons. "I don't want to hear f--- all about 'the world as a harsh place.' She gets up every day, smells the roses and loves life. And for a putz, 20-year-old kid to say, 'I'm depressed, I live in Seattle.' F--- you, then kill yourself."

For most people it's simply a fault in the way they think called cognitive distortion, and it can be cured easily. Gene Simmons doesn't understand and neither do the people who agree with him.
Yep.
Being Unhappy is not depression...In fact, being unhappy is the Normal State.
Why is he an idiot? He sounds like my kind of guy!
Hell, sounds like "marriage".
Just kidding, honey...smash, whap, pow...ouch!
Not to mention attorneys who file claims for SS disability.
“...When asked by SongFacts.com if he still gets along with Criss or Frehley these days, Simmons responded, “No, I don’t get along with anybody who’s a drug addict and has a dark cloud over their head and sees themselves as a victim.”
“Drug addicts and alcoholics are always: ‘The world is a harsh place.’ My mother was in a concentration camp in Nazi Germany,” added Simmons. “I don’t want to hear f-— all about ‘the world as a harsh place.’ She gets up every day, smells the roses and loves life. And for a putz, 20-year-old kid to say, ‘I’m depressed, I live in Seattle.’ F-— you, then kill yourself.”
Simmons continued on his pro-suicide theme: “I never understand, because I always call them on their bluff. I’m the guy who says ‘Jump!’ when there’s a guy on top of a building who says, ‘That’s it, I can’t take it anymore, I’m going to jump.’ Are you kidding? Why are you announcing it? Shut the f-— up, have some dignity and jump! You’ve got the crowd.”
Kiss was inducted this year into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, noted the New York Daily News, but Simmons is still upset because only the original four members of Kiss were inducted.
“They wouldn’t allow [current members] Tommy [Thayer] and Eric [Singer] to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, who have been in the band longer than the originals. So we said okay, we’ll accept the award, but I’m not playing,” Simmons told SongFacts.com.
Simmons went on to slam Run-D.M.C. for being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
“So I will give the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame credibility even though it’s got Run-D.M.C. and Madonna and some other people on it, as soon as the Hip-Hop Hall of Fame allows Led Zeppelin inside,” stated Simmons. “You’d say, that’s ridiculous. Oh really? But Run-D.M.C. is in the Rock Hall? What brand of guitar do you play? What song have you ever sung?”
He makes some good points. I think he’s overstating it a bit to make a point, in that I doubt that he really wants people to kill themselves.
Simmons was a supporter of the foreign policy of the George W. Bush administration.[7] He supported the 2003 invasion of Iraq, writing on his website: "I'm ashamed to be surrounded by people calling themselves liberal who are, in my opinion, spitting on the graves of brave American soldiers who gave their life to fight a war that wasn't theirs...in a country they've never been to... simply to liberate the people therein".[8] In a follow-up, Simmons explained his position and wrote about his love and support for the United States: "I wasn't born here. But I have a love for this country and its people that knows no bounds. I will forever be grateful to America for going into World War II, when it had nothing to gain, in a country that was far away... and rescued my mother from the Nazi German concentration camps. She is alive and I am alive because of America. And, if you have a problem with America, you have a problem with me."[8] During the 2006 Lebanon War between Israel and Lebanon, Simmons sent a televised message of support (in both English and Hebrew) to an Israeli soldier seriously wounded in fighting in Lebanon, calling him his "hero."[9]
In 2010, Simmons said he regretted voting for Barack Obama and criticized the 2009 health care reforms.[10] Following Obama's 2011 Mideast speech, in which the President called on Israel and the Palestinians to negotiate a settlement "based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps,"[11] Simmons told CNBC that Obama was gravely misguided. "If you have never been to the moon, you can't issue policy about the moon. For the president to be sitting in Washington D.C. and saying, 'Go back to your '67 borders in Israel' how about you live there and try to defend an indefensible border nine miles (14 km) wide?" Simmons also accused the United Nations of being "the most pathetic body on the face of the earth."[12]

Simmons 2016
I have no idea why people get depressed and I know nothing about the efficacy of drugs or medications. However, nobody should encourage sick people to kill themselves or to be self-destructive.
Surely the average depressed person has spent less on medications than this guy has on his makeup and his plastic surgery. And, the result? Well, you be the judge, but it would be wrong for anyone to encourage Simmons to further mutilate himself like Michael Jackson did.
Not really he might have opinions on a few things I agree with but he is still a slime ball
I didn’t think I was going to convince you. :)
despite the extreme language and unloving way to get his point across, i understand what he’s saying.
he could have said it far, far better.
that said, i’m not waiting for advice from a guy who was a former school teacher who bragged about the hundreds of girls he slept with, who he says their average age was under 16 years old. that song “christine” is a tribute to him hooking up with as many schoolgirls as he possibly could.
That would take a massive toll on the DemocRATS’ voter base. I guess it’s not a bad idea.
Sounds like he should be in prison
The point is, that these people aren’t sick at all. They are just unhappy and blame their unhappiness on everybody else.
Yep. What you said.
Once you accept that fact that most of your life you are going to be unhappy, you’ll feel much better.
Most people are miserable because they believe that the fact that they aren’t happy must be because there’s something wrong with them, or with the world in general, and that just creates a vicious circle.
Or to sum it up, “Don’t worry, Don’t be happy.”
Like I said, I'm not a doctor and I know next to nothing about clinical depression.
Depressed, sad, sick, ugly, I don't know, I'll let you be the connoisseur.
I'm laughing out loud in my cubicle.
