Kelsey Grammer forgave the man who raped and murdered his sister but said that he should not be released, during an emotional testimony at the killer's parole hearing on Tuesday.
The 59-year-old Frasier star testified against 57-year-old Freddie Glenn who kidnapped and murdered his 18-year-old sister, Karen Elisa Grammer, in 1975 when she was leaving her job at a Red Lobster in Colorado Springs.
'I accept that you live with remorse, but I live with tragedy every day,' the Cheers star said via satellite link at a Colorado parole hearing.
'I accept your apology. I forgive you. However, I cannot give your release my endorsement.'

My sister was brutally murdered as well, a decade ago.
I like to think I’m not carrying around baggage imposed on me by the evil man who did it to her. God knows.
Having said that, I can say without heat, if the law allowed me to pull the trigger or the switch on him tomorrow, I would do so without hesitation or regret.
Read Genesis chapter nine, which was given to all mankind. The absolute requirement that those who shed innocent blood be sent to God for judgment has never been amended or repealed.
That imperative command was in fact the basis for the executive power of government.

Here is my view on this stuff. I would think, that if you really had found Jesus, or had whatever religious awakening you claim you had, that you would be MORE THAN HAPPY to stay in prison. Because if you really, really had found Jesus, or God, or Buddha or whatever, you would realize that A. what you had done was wrong and you SHOULD pay ALL of society’s price for that and B. PRISON needs good people, so you SHOULD be MORE THAN HAPPY to stay in prison and be a force for good there.
So, you know, if you told me that story I’d have respect for you.
If you say - I’ve found Jesus and I’m all good now and let me out.....well, I just don’t buy that.
He is not an animal. He is a man, a child of God, whom God loves very much, who has sinned horrifically, and whom God earnestly wants to repent so he can be forgiven and eventually spend eternity with him in heaven. I don't presume to tell a Jew what his faith teaches, but as a Christian, that is what our faith teaches us.
Calling him an animal is simply an excuse not to have to face the prospect of forgiving him.
And before you say "if it was your sister....", well, don't go there because... Let's just say KG isn't the only one who has had to tread this path. I'm glad he did.

Christians believe all transgressions are against God primarily and against other people only secondarily. Secondly Christians believe since God through Jesus has already paid the price for all the sins and earned forgiveness for all who believe in him, that any debts between individuals are also settled by him at the same time.

Good point, but the American people are so uninformed that think “Demons” is just the name of a sports team.
The murderer did get a second chance. He was allowed to live. He cannot ask for more than that. The $200K trust fund will elude him. It was an insurance policy from a relative and he can only collect it on the outside. I wonder if he thinks now that the other murder he did that netted $0.50 was worth it?
I don’t see why anyone should forgive someone that is likely not sorry for what he did but maybe is very sorry he got caught.
I wonder if his sister would forgive this guy.
Would God or His Son ever forgive a non-repentant individual?

Only God or His Son truly know the answer to that.

Having lost a family member, I can say that the day I forgive the subhman trash is the day I get to cut off his head and use it as a soccer ball. Since the “state” will not allow this, I will simply say “If you want forgiveness, talk to God. I am not in the forgiveness business and not likely to start soon.”
I will say that I purchased a large machete and keep it good and sharp “just in case”
I don't consider the direct words of Jesus Christ as glibness. As his disciple, I am bound to follow his commands. No one said Christianity is easy. If I can't even make the attempt to pick up my cross, I'm not worthy of the name.
He probably thought about that for years. But he forgave, didn’t forget
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
It is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
That is an overwhelming amount of personal tragedy. He must see death around every corner. Perhaps at some point forgiveness becomes necessary just to get through another day.
