COLUMBUS, Ohio - Hair coloring and facial treatments like Botox help many people look and feel younger, but increasingly, more men are seeking a way to feel younger. In record numbers, they're seeking a way boost to the male hormone testosterone.
We've seen the ads that warn of low testosterone, the male hormone that builds muscle, controls fat, and improves sex drive. They show a man concerned about less energy, moodiness and a low sex drive.
Urologist Dr. Gregory Lowe at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center says he has seen patients come in asking for the hormone even without documented low testosterone levels.
Many of them are receiving it, too. Online ads offer a dizzying number of products. There are over-the-counter supplements at health stores, as well hormone injections from doctors or prescription gels.

“Your vitamin D level should be between 45 and 60.”
Doc tested me for it and said your number is 12, I said is that good, knowing very well that it wasn’t, I almost never get good news at the doc’s office. My problem is genetic, seems I don’t absorb vitamins, supplements, or meds anywhere close to the percentage normal folks do.
Actually it seems that I have inherited a mutation and for once the pluses far outweigh the negatives. My at rest heartrate is 47 to 52, my good cholesterol is over double what it should be for a man, my bloodpressure is usually 110/60 unless they take it when I am p.o.ed at someone then it jumps to 130 over 70, and I am handsome in an ugly sort of way. Most of my people live close to or over 100 years, you can’t kill em out with a sledgehammer. I smoke like a freight train. My eyesight is going, it has gone from 20/10 to 20/15 with +1 glaucoma, whatever that is. Knowing that I am genetically superior to pretty much everyone in the world that isn’t kin to me, I have managed to remain humble too.:)
‘It’s fingers up your butt for a few seconds. Big deal.’
I had an uncle die of colon cancer and he said he was dying because he was embarrassed to get his colon scoped. I got worried and had that and the prostate exam. Very embarrassing, least I thought so. The colostomy showed that I was the not so proud owner of benign whatever you call those things. Now I have to have a colostomy done every 3 years instead of five. Something else to look forward to. So far all my appendages are working fine, at least for now. My grandfather on mom’s side sired his last child at age 70, with my luck it will still work and I will become demented and forget what it is for.
No, thanks, I don’t use Google.
But, to the point, I was disputing your sweeping statement; replace “all men” with “many men”, and your statement is probably true.
I don’t know the scientific reasons; I read that the pills to alleviate indigestion are worse than the indigestion itself. Gall bladder removal ends nearly all indigestion. Try a pickle a day and see if that helps.
Niacin (flush-free) works the same for me with cholesterol.
Weighted squats!? We need pills! LOL
I agree 100%. Not easy, but much more beneficial. My grandfather was a plasterer and had arms the size of my legs. His legs were like tree trunks and he worked into his 60s without any issues. As soon as he retired- it was all downhill.
Our bodies need physical activity—especially men. Testosterone doesn’t have to decrease, that’s just your body telling you to get off your butt. Lol
My new doc, had her about a year, tests for the right things not just things to cover her butt. I had never had a cholesterol test since I figure not knowing is just one less thing to worry about. She actually said I have over twice the good cholesterol that women have and told me that women have more than men. Don’t know whether to be proud or ashamed of that. Also told me I could eat anything I wanted and never have a worry about whatever cholesterol causes.
Saw her yesterday and she told me she admires my drive, when I decide to do something, I do it. I told her I admired her butt. Maybe shouldn’t have said that, but I am a man and as she says I have no filter.
Be thankful that it is not 6.8.
