He’s conservative and very vocal in his opposition to “gay marriage,” which is why they want to get rid of him. He actually has done very well in handling the problems left by his liberal predecessor, Flynn.
The charge of touching an altar boy during a Communion photo didn’t stick...probably because of the sheer impossibility and idiocy of it...so now they’re finding offended queer ex-priests or seminarians, who probably actually wanted to think he was saying something suggestive to them when he didn’t say anything like that, and who hate him for his stance on gay “marriage.”
We had a priest here who was accused of offenses by an adult woman and then immediately removed by the bishop and practically paraded up and down the street with a sign on his back. A year later, the investigation by private detectives showed that the claims were pretty impossible and then revealed the fact that the woman had done this in a couple of other dioceses in other states earlier and was mentally ill (the priest ran a “healing ministry”). In fact, when questioned about it, she admitted that she had made up the whole incident. However, the damage had been done and he is a completely broken man. The bishop quietly reinstated the priest to an old age home and when the bishop retired, he went to a monastery, I think probably because of this incident.
Abp Nienstadt is having this investigated independently and I’m sure he’ll be vindicated. But in the meantime, a vocal opponent of gay “marriage” has been silenced by the left, obviously with the support of certain FReepers.
There you go...He laid it right in your pope’s lap...Be interesting to see where the pope goes with it...
This time the really really really have the abuse issue under control. Promise.
