A harrowing tale. One seeks giant wild animals at one's peril. There was the famous instance of the Giant Palouse Earthworm (Driloleirus americanus) that even now hardened mountain men look nervously over their shoulders before relating it to the campfire listeners. Enormous, man-eating worms 50 feet long, lavender, and smelling like flowers, you could hear them calling to one another on a still night in eastern Washington and northern Idaho, "AWOOOOO!", meaning "fresh campers sighted along the Clearwater! Look for the California license plates and chow down!" That is, of course, my own rough translation.

Well, they finally tracked them down. The results were a little disappointing:
