Appearances matter. All of our lives we were told that by our mothers, school teachers, employers and etiquette books.
My youngest son and I just got home from lunch at the local Taco Bell. A fat woman walked in with her chigger bit gut hanging 8-10 inches from underneath her shirt, and I had to stop eating.
When we went to leave my son went to refill his soda and he had to wait behind a super fat guy in shorts who was filling his soda cup and downing it right in front of the soda machine and blocking the way. The fat slob finally noticed my son and sat his empty cup right under the fountain and waddled away.
I told my son that maybe it was about time for America to come to an end. Imagine what the state of humanity in this country will be like in another 20 years. When the collapse comes the herd will be culled.
I don’t think people/mothers say “I/you can’t go out in public looking like that” or “I wouldn’t be caught dead looking like that” any more.
Those were just 2 of my mother’s key phrases.
Very well gentlemen, just so long as there aren’t any occasions when you are wearing shorts and your wife is wearing pants.
Because if there are — then you have got things completely backwards.
8^)
The wife doesn’t like shorts, she’s one of those “always cold” women. I’d prefer it if she only wore micro-shorts, but alas she has her own mind.
Why. I am not going to functions. I am home with my children. When I go to Mass, a wedding, funerals and functions. I wear a pair of pants, shirt and tie.
I try to avoid a suit. I hate them and they are always hot. Regardless, I am not slovenly. A clean pair of shorts and pocket T-shirt or button up short sleeve shirt is appropriate for most outings to the store, or movie theatre. Though I haven’t been to the movies in a year.
I’ll wear shorts and a hooded sweatshirt right through Christmas if I can get away with it. The hooded shirt covers my holster nicely. My shorts are great for the .380. No problem and no one would suspect I have it. AND I am comfortable.
The biggest problem is that people don’t wear appropriately sized clothes. If you are a size 16 buy 16. Don’t wear size 6 and make people look at what isn’t covered.
Don't knock flip flops. I wear thin soled flip flops (not the $1 plastic ones) because they give me the extra freedom for toe grip needed for balance. I can't feel what I'm walking on and lose my balance with closed in shoes with thick soles. I drive barefooted and am barefooted at home. Gardening is done barefooted for stability.
You WILL end up with Plantar Fasciitis. That is how I got it. The toe grip on flip flops. It causes the condidtion. Good luck.
If you saw MY legs you would BEG me to wear long pants! I am 63 and my leggy years are well behind me LOL
If you watch old movies... Men are wearing jackets, ties, vests, hats... Women are wearing dresses, jackets, hats, gloves, dressy shoes.... no matter the weather and they didn’t have AC back then. Now you see slobby people at Walmart and everywhere else paying for their fatty foods with OUR money on EBT cards......
That is a shocking way to drive home the point. People had PRIDE, even when down, but not out.
When I used to frequent an Orthodox parish (granted, it was hard-core-ROCOR) they used to have one-size-fits-all wraparound skirts and veils on loan to women (visitors, I guess) who came in not properly attired.
To me, it always made the women look more dignified, and...
...little girls, always seriously cute.
no gang signs either
Your response (and photos) say it all.
lol
We all wear shorts in the Texas heat. If we go out to eat at a nice place, slacks may be the choice of dress and that depends on the restaurant.
Is there a contest? Who can be the most outrageous at Walmart. Are they hoping for life on the internet at one of the sites that post the Wally World Weirdos? Do they go about their daily life dressed like that or do they just “dress up” to go shopping? It boggles the mind!
MO is no Jackie O.
