They came to the wrong house.
An 80-year-old California retiree shot dead a pregnant woman as she and a male accomplice tried to flee Tuesday night after breaking in and robbing the man’s home in Long Beach.
And Tom Greer has no regrets about plugging the woman with two shots as she begged for her life.
“She says, 'Don't shoot me, I'm pregnant! I'm going to have a baby!' And I shot her anyway," Greer told KNBC-TV.
The elderly man, wearing his arm in a sling Wednesday as he spoke to a reporter, said he came back to his house in the ritzy Bixby Knolls neighborhood Tuesday evening and found the woman and a man ransacking his home.
"When I went in there, they tackled me," Greer told the news station. "Both of them jumped up on top of me."

The home invaders had already earned a death penalty, by any means necessary. Too bad one of them got away.

If the facts are as presented in the article, then the old man murdered that woman. She was shot when she stumbled in an alley as she tried to flee.

This guy’s is toast. They flee, she begs for her life, and he shoots her anyway even though she’s not a threat? I’d convict him just for his own stupidity and lack of self-control. Enemy soldiers get better treatment than that.
He murdered her. Shot her as she ran and begged for her life.
Putting this interview on a flatscreen in a courtroom = free money.

Sounds like he is bragging. Even with justified homicide, one should not brag to cops or reporters. Foolishness.

If the statements in the article check out, this was not actually self-defense.
You can't chase down someone and kill them outside your home.
You can't shoot an unarmed person who is begging for her life.
I think the best he can hope for is a sympathetic jury.
I hope he is able to find an attorney that is 2nd Amendment sympathetic and is capable of vetting the jury pool.
Otherwise I’d be inclined to believe that a liberal reporter put words in his mouth.

This case has nothing to do with the 2A.
Given the coldblooded and ill-advised statements he made, and given his advanced age, his attorney would be much better off advising a plea deal.
In Texas shooting her while she was fleeing would be iffy. In Cali the old man is looking at life in prison.
