I have a sensitive, inconvenient, and undoubtedly politically incorrect question: Why arent there more gay people?
I ask because theres something confusing about our culture war. Given the prominence of the issue, you would expect homosexuality to be rampant in America. When asked to estimate how many gay people there are, most people guess that its on the order of 20% to 25% of the population. But yet another study has been released by the CDC giving a more scientific estimate, and it finds that almost 97 percent of Americans describe themselves as straight the actual number who describes themselves as gay, lesbian, or bisexual is 2.3%. So the publics perception is off by a whole order of magnitude.
Its almost as if someone has been conspiring to elevate this issue way beyond its actual cultural significance. That is precisely what we find, and both sides are to blame.
For the moderate left, gay rights have to be magnified as a social issue because they want to keep alive the legacy of the civil rights movement. They know how much they gained by remaking the Democratic Party, the home of the old Dixiecrats, into the party that claims exclusive credit for the entire civil right movementwhile smearing Republicans as racists. Their exaggeration of the culture war over homosexuality is partly an attempt find a new civil rights movement to fight over so they can maintain a manufactured moral high ground.

"Moderate left" is an oxymoron - doesn't exist.
Dead Enders reach the Dead End. Recruitment via pedophelia keeps the perversion alive to a fringe level.
This country certainly is.
I agree. Homosexual "marriage" is sterile, rarely exclusive, and usually of short duration. These are pathologies of legitimate marriage, not beneficial elements.
As Mrs. Don-o says, heterosexuals invented gay marriage. Homosexuals' participation is a late, but surely reasonable, development.
A man’s rear end cannot compare with what a woman has.
Shouldn’t the title be “Thank Goodness there aren’t more “gay” people”?
Exactly.
It's a big step, not taken lightly, and probably involves some bridge-burning.
Reproduction, or lack thereof could be an issue.
To answer the headline; it is because homosexuality is not one of the more common mental illnesses.
The data suggests that the number of people experimenting with homosexuality (bisexuals) has exploded 300%... but still is a small number (1.1% among young adults compared to .3% among middle-aged adults.) Either that, or most bisexuals go straight.
One thing I find particularly disturbing is the current effort to push the idea that gays are better at raising children than heterosexuals. I find that so strange that I cannot even think of a good comparison to any other strange idea. Certainly no homosexual couple, either male or female, can produce a child on their own so what on Earth would make anyone fantasize that they could do a better job of raising a child? I have even heard a married woman talk to a gay man about the idea that a gay man would make a great nanny. Sick, sick, sick. Anyone who harbors such notions should search on the name of Jesse Dirkhising but if you don’t already know the story be forewarned that you may need to have a large bucket handy when you do read it and you may suffer psychological damage. I am a man of mature years who has been through a considerable amount of pain in the past and survived but when first exposed to the story I literally wanted to cry like a baby.
Why Aren’t There More Gay People?
There aren’t any. HOMOSEXUAL, because there’s nothing GAY about it.
Homos are simply a weapon for the anti-Christian left.
My son asked me why are there no more Unicorns? I said because they were gay.....
The number of people that have had a homosexual encounter is closer to 30%. Most don’t stick with it, but that is the number that is rising and that is a major public health concern. The study that showed 2% was a self-identification study, not a behavior study.
Unicorns & rainbows go so well together!
;^)
LOL, can’t top that....won’t even try.
