The king cobra is so poisonous that it can kill an elephant in a single bite.
It is so long that it will use its 18-foot length to stand up and look a human in the eye if confronted.
And in this astonishing viral footage, a helpless baby is being protected by not one of them but four.
Deadly: King cobras can kill an elephant in a single bite (Picture: Mike J/YouTube) The reptiles each stand guard in the corners of the bed where the baby is lying with their necks extended above the ground the stance it will take when defensive.
It is not known where the clip was filmed nor why the baby was left near the snakes.
Because king cobras are the only snakes in the world that build nests and guard their eggs, some have speculated the reptiles are protecting the baby out of an instinct to protect young.
Astonishing: Viewers are baffled as to why the snakes appear to be protecting the child (Picture: Mike J/YouTube) Others have suggested the clip is a sick stunt, with the snakes defanged or their mouths sewn shut for some kind of snake charmer spectacle.
The footage was filmed in 2013, but has been receiving renewed attention from media outlets.
Now, that’s a nanny!
Assuming the cobras don’t bite the kid, I’d say the kid’s VERY well protected!
I want to vomit!
very bad parent - a stunt no less - and one that could have had serious consequences...unless they were milked before hand....geez...when did life become less that a number count on a You Tube video?
“None shall pass”
My two cents is a poor quality Photoshop job. There are areas lacking shadows where there should be some. Also parts of the snakes are out of focus when the rest of the photo is in focus.
A picture used to be worth a thousand words, these days the word is frequently “fraud’.
The video was not very clear.
I did not see tongues from any of the snakes. Typically, their tongues are going in and out of their mouths.
The article speculated that they have have had their mouths sewn shut.
Anyway, I am pretty sure the baby’s named Shelby.
title says its a video
This video is sick and the parents should be horse whipped.
Even if the snaked were defanged or had their mouths sewn shut. 100% of snakes carry Salmonella on their skins. The kid could die from the Salmonella alone.
Was this photo taken in Indonesia in the early 1960’s?
Don’t know about cobras, but pythons are considered to be gentle animals in some cultures. Here’s one with a little boy who loves it:

See Sammy the Snake Slither (3x’s fast as you can)
is this a picture of young obama in kenya, the young little antichrist?
my best guess.
“100% of snakes carry Salmonella on their skins.”
No they don’t.
You are a hundred times more likely to get Salmonella from raw chicken and eggs...or that nice fresh salad some illegal picked.
I swear.
Statisticians, these days.
The “salmonella meme” came from one case that happened decades ago and involved either or turtle or lizard.
I hate to ruin everybody’s day with debunking “Snake Scares” but Cobras are remarkably non-aggressive snakes.
You pretty much have to *make* it bite you.
In India, Cobras that wander into populated areas are routinely and respectfully captured and relocated.
Other cultures don’t share our ophidiophobic tendencies.
