Funny story. We canceled her credit cards when she came into our care. At that same moment HE was trying to draw money out of an ATM machine 1000 miles away and it rejected the card. HE was not happy!

When people decrease the amount of time worked, there is a decrease in the supply of labor, which leads to decreased production, which leads to decrease supply, and higher prices, which leads to lower average real wage rates, which means lower standard of living for the average worker.
