Archie Andrews will die taking a bullet for his gay best friend.
The famous freckle-faced comic book icon is meeting his demise in Wednesdays installment of Life with Archie when he intervenes in an assassination attempt on Kevin Keller, Archie Comics first openly gay character. Andrews death, which was first announced in April, will mark the conclusion of the series that focuses on grown-up renditions of Andrews and his Riverdale pals. [

We wanted to do something that was impactful that would really resonate with the world and bring home just how important Archie is to everyone, said [Jon] Goldwater, [Archie Comics publisher and co-CEO]. Thats how we came up with the storyline of saving Kevin. He could have saved Betty. He could have saved Veronica. We get that, but metaphorically, by saving Kevin, a new Riverdale is born.

Haha! Not content with marketing to less than 1% of the population! Archie Comics publishers are honing their sights to 2% of that (less than) 1% of the population.

We wanted to do something that was impactful that would really resonate with the world and bring home just how important Archie is to everyone, Just roll the entirety of that statement around in your brain a few times and truly contemplate the enormity of the silly.

I didn’t realize that Kevin Keller was so influential that attempts on his life would be considered “assassinations” - i mean c’mon, we ain’t talking Richie Rich here....

I don’t remember any AP stories about comic books that don’t promote the homosexual agenda. Must have missed them.

Why pre-announce it? Talk about a spoiler!

It’s not like continuity was ever a strength of the Archie comics, anyway.

Who’s got the bang list?
In “Life with Archie,” Keller is a married military veteran and newly elected senator who’s pushing for more gun control in Riverdale after his husband was involved in a shooting.

Now we are talking about some “quality” comic books!
And I thought you only got this kind of stuff in Heavy Metal and Vampirella comics! LOL!

Actually, this "adult life" continuity is different because up until very recently, Archie Comics never had the characters "grow" into true adults. Note that in the Life with Archie comic, there's actually two different storylines--one where Archie marries Veronica, and one where Archie marries Betty.

It would be more life-like if his gay friend shot him. That's the suspicion in an unsolved (and ignored) murder case of somebody everyone in America "heard of".
Recall the Lawrence v. Texas case. It came about because the physically abused lover of one of the men called the cops to report an assault in progress (while his "lover" was having sex with someone else).
The caller went to jail for a couple of weeks for making a false call.
He had a pending assault criminal case against his "lover" but was murdered before it ever came to trial and the issue was dropped.
I believe all 3 men are now deceased.

I didnt realize that Kevin Keller was so influential that attempts on his life would be considered assassinations - i mean cmon, we aint talking Richie Rich here.... According to the article, the "married" ex-soldier has "become" a Senator pushing a gun control agenda.
His "stalker" (identified as such in the article) can't be a random act of violence or robbery gone wrong.
Nope, it's someone politically opposed to what he stands for (the gay, the gay military, the gay marriage, and/or the gun control).
Archie Comics is painting a picture (caricature) of their political opposition. Hmmm. That doesn't celebrate diversity of ideas.
