Put me in charge ...
Put me in charge of food stamps. Id get rid of Lone Star cards; no cash for Ding Dongs or Ho Hos, just money for 50-pound bags of rice and beans, blocks of cheese and all the powdered milk you can haul away. If you want steak and frozen pizza, then get a job.
Put me in charge of Medicaid. The first thing Id do is to get women Norplant birth control implants or tubal ligations. Then, well test recipients for drugs, alcohol, and nicotine and document all tattoos and piercings. If you want to reproduce or use drugs, alcohol, smoke or get tats and piercings, then get a job.
Put me in charge of government housing. Ever live in a military barracks? You will maintain our property in a clean and good state of repair. Your home will be subject to inspections anytime and possessions will be inventoried. If you want a plasma TV or Xbox 360, then get a job and your own place.
In addition, you will either present a check stub from a job each week or you will report to a government job. It may be cleaning the roadways of trash, painting and repairing public housing, whatever we find for you. We will sell your 22 inch rims and low profile tires and your blasting stereo and speakers and put that money toward the common good.
Before you write that Ive violated someones rights, realize that all of the above is voluntary. If you want our money, accept our rules.. Before you say that this would be demeaning and ruin their self esteem, consider that it wasnt that long ago that taking someone elses money for doing absolutely nothing was demeaning and lowered self esteem.
If we are expected to pay for other peoples mistakes we should at least attempt to make them learn from their bad choices. The current system rewards them for continuing to make bad choices.

I support this policy.
Let’s return property rights for voting. (Either real property or a healthy portfolio)
Bingo ! The author’s got it right !
BUMP!!!!! As much as I possibly can.
Yup.
I’ve been reading good, common sense here in FeeRepublic for almost 16 years.
It is so in your face the abuse of government give-aways that it just makes one sick. Even in TX where the economy, before the dump of illegals lately, is good, you get so many who think they are deserving of all credit when they have their hands in your pocket for their life. They abuse any law they think does not apply to their life and if they want to drink and do drugs in public and make your life miserable, so be it. And, there are many parents who do not correct their decade old adult children with problems so if you get a neighbor like this, Lord help you.
As Ted Cruz said, we have to stop the liberals from making us look like we are uncharitable and show that they are using children as pawns for their failed policy!
Sigh. This is simply the other-side-of-the-same-Utopian-coin.
To NKP_Vet, my fellow Texan, I will point you to the parallels of the policies of Mussolini regarding converting the populace to productive citizens; as long as a central governing body controlled the means of production.
Our Lord told us that the poor will always be with us and I encourage your passion to end wasteful wlefare spending. Yet, there are better ways to achieve your goals.
The letter was published in the Nov. 18, 2010, edition of the Waco Tribune Herald. It’s been around the net for awhile now, sometimes touted as having been written by a 21 year old woman.
It’s a good rant, but the fellow does not want to run for public office.
What is described here is good ol’ fasioned Christian cherity. The strings attached to getting a hand out are really a hand up.
As it should be.
Nothing would stop the flow of “Dreamers” faster.
