We know this is a planned invasion...
But Boehner (Boner) has beat the drum of 'Obama does not uphold or enforce the law." Hint hint: Obama really, truly doesn't...
But...
The William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act Of 2008 will either be "upheld" and "enforced" by Obama - or it won't.
Under it, certain children under this Act are placed under the care of the Dept of Health and Human Services, are given the least restrictive environment, are given an attorney and can plead their case before a judge to stay in the U.S.
And GWB signed this into law (Public Law 110-457) on December 23, 2008.
If the present GOP in the House and Senate says scuttle this law, it will be a hit against Karl Rove, GWB, and by extension Jeb Bush and many in the GOP establishment.
What will Boehner do and say?
Is the Pope Lutheran???
Karl Rove, the GOP-E, and those who are big supporters of GWB and his presidency and presidential legacy may not take kindly to a partial repeal of the law.
And what if many children come before judges under this Act and say they were fleeing systemic abuse of all kinds at home, or were violated in their home countries (not Mexico) by the authorities, drug cartels, families, parents, etc?
They'll leave as much of it in as possible to appease the GOPe.
BO needs the distraction to reset the news media away from all his many scandals. So a few Central American kids die....what do they care?
“certain children under this Act are...”
Certain children?
Which ones?
How are the “certain” ones determined?
Boehner can either Point with Pride or View with Alarm. It doesn't matter to him. He has no operational morals and even less loyalty to his constituents. He is only slightly less worthless than Obama or Biden who precede him in the line of succession to what is rapidly becoming Zimbabwe west.
Trafficking victims are those who are being transported for purposes of abuse, usually sexual.
Wiki: “Human trafficking is the trade in humans, most commonly for the purpose of sexual slavery, forced labor or commercial sexual exploitation for the trafficker or others...” They are slaves or kidnapping victims, not immigrants.
They are not volunteers, by definition. This law, at least in its original intent, does not apply to the vast majority of those presently coming into the country. If you hire a coyote to sneak you across the border, you are not a trafficking victim, though some have found out the hard way you can become one unexpectedly, especially cute young girls.
This law does not apply, it’s just being dishonestly used to justify lack of action to stop the influx.
Boehner.... John just wants to go golfing and the crawl around DuPont Circle.
In fact, even Sen. Feinstein concedes that the law already contains a provision for exceptional circumstances...
In no F'in way was this intended for Obama to ram through 300,000 children & adult illegals....A higher court could clarify this for the administrative immigration courts in 2 seconds...
“This law does not apply, “
I agree.
“its just being dishonestly used to justify lack of action to stop the influx.”
I think I know what you mean, but I’m not sure I follow.
Do you mean that the reason they are not deporting them is because they are dishonestly acting as if the law does apply to them, so therefore they cannot be immediately returned, and further must be given counsel of some sort?
That makes sense.
Yup. That’s what I meant. Guess it wasn’t as clear as I thought.
It was clear enough.
I think it is correct and important to point out, so well done.
You articulated what I was getting at in my original post with the question.
Under it, certain children under this Act are placed under the care of the Dept of Health and Human Services, are given the least restrictive environment, are given an attorney and can plead their case before a judge to stay in the U.S.
This law is being used against the security of our country.
The William Wilberforce law of 2008 was to go to 2011.
What happened in 2011? Was it renewed, flipped, stayed on books?

An Act
To authorize appropriations for fiscal years 2008 through 2011 for the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000, to enhance measures to combat trafficking in persons, and for other purposes.

Central and South American children crossings were far lower until this year, I believe it was the DACA memo that started this ball rolling.
