My parents owned land near the huge Eglin AFB reservation. One evening near dusk, I saw an airplane flying just hundreds of yards away. It was shaped just like the model stealth fighter.
Of course I thought that was what it was. As it turned out, the model did not look anything like the real one.
I still have no idea what it was. I will say that Eglin is one of those bases where all kinds of interesting things are always going on.

I was in the Air Force from 1977-81. After I left I read Tom Clancy's novel
Red Storm Rising where he depicts the USAF having a super secret stealth aircraft for first day of battle strike against high value targets. I thought to myself "that's impossible. You'd never keep something like that so secret."
Then the USAF revealed the F-117A and I was very wrong.
So my first reaction to this article is to also say "impossible" but I have to temper it with my previous experiences.
