Arnold, Maryland

Everyone bashes Maryland so I wanted to show folks where I live in Maryland and PROVE that it is NOT a communist state. Read every word before you call me a liar.....lol.

Arnold is a medium-sized coastal town (i.e. on the ocean, a bay, or inlet) located in the state of Maryland. With a population of 23,106 people and five constituent neighborhoods, Arnold is the 47th largest community in Maryland.

Housing costs in Arnold are among some of the highest in the nation, although real estate prices here don’t compare to real estate prices in the most expensive communities in Maryland.

Arnold is a decidedly white-collar town, with fully 88.35% of the workforce employed in white-collar jobs, well above the national average. Overall, Arnold is a town of professionals, sales and office workers and managers. There are especially a lot of people living in Arnold who work in management occupations (15.00%), sales jobs (12.00%) and office and administrative support (11.71%).

Also of interest is that Arnold has more people living here who work in computers and math than 95% of the places in the US.

Because of many things, Arnold is a great place for families with children to consider. First of all, many other families with children live here, making Arnold a place where both parents and children are more likely to develop social ties with other families, as well as find family-oriented services and community. The town’s good public school district and large population of college-educated adults provide an environment conducive to academic values. With regard to real estate, Arnold has a high rate of owner-occupied single family homes, which tends to reflect stability in the local community. Finally, Arnold’s overall crime rate is lower than average for the country.

Arnold is also nautical, which means that parts of it are somewhat historic and touch the ocean or tidal bodies of water, such as inlets and bays. Quite often, nautical areas such as these attract visitors and locals who come to enjoy the scenery and various waterfront activities.

Arnold Information and Demographics

Do you like to read, write and learn? If you move to Arnold, you’ll likely find that many of your neighbors like to as well. Arnold is one of the more educated communities in America, with a full 52.52% of its adults having a college degree or even advanced degree, compared to a national average across all communities of 21.84%.

The per capita income in Arnold in 2010 was $45,970, which is wealthy relative to Maryland and the nation. This equates to an annual income of $183,880 for a family of four.

Does this really sound like a commie state of Maryland????????? NO!!!!!

Look.....you did not read the article carefully. It did not say that 4 members of the family each contributed to the 183K.....what it said is that if you count up all the wealth in Arnold, Maryland and divide it by the population, you come out to 45K per person. Now if you only look at families then it comes out to 183K. That is my only problem with any of your posts.

Only problem? You accused me of jealousy of my own demographic, pal. You are mistaken.

Come on.....I was kidding. You did not write a thing about that in your post. I thought you would think that what I wrote was over the top or something. You must know that I don’t think any FREEPER is jealous of another FREEPER. That would be very unconservative by a mile.

RE :”Or how about the 2013 Homeowner Association Act, that overrides all existing HOA by-laws so that the state can in effect make by-law communities toothless. They can now stick all the Section 8 people in wherever they want by “supplementing” their income with tax money, ruining neighborhoods where people with jobs have been paying high monthly dues to have had a safe neighborhood. Now, to hell with the property values and your peace once they force communities to allow rentals and the thumper cars move right in, cursing, yelling and strewing trash. “

I thought they did that 20 years ago.

You wrote to me, "However, even on FREEREPUBLIC we have folks like yourself who are jealous of wealth and success.....so sad." That's a sweeping accusation and an utterly mistaken left-handed snobbery, when what I did was criticize the way the financial information was expressed so as to cause an easy misunderstanding.

I'm not buying your "just kidding" excuse. You could save us both a lot of keystrokes if you just said, "I apologize for insulting you. Apparently I leapt to an inaccurate conclusion about you."

"how about the 2013 Homeowner Association Act, that overrides all existing HOA by-laws... "
I thought they did that 20 years ago.

The law I'm referring to is actually called the 2013 Maryland Homeowners Association Act, not the "1993" MHAA.

Great to hear from you! I hope all is well.

Silly me. I guess I could have looked it up, too. What an interesting history about Benedict. Benedict to DC is a very long march!

As a long term resident of Annapolis, well.......any way.

Now tell the nice people about Garrett Park, and Takoma Park in Montgomery County. "Nuclear Free" zones self proclaimed.

Both are so packed with communists and fellow travelers they all have membership cards with single digit membership numbers.
