Nome is used to rowdy residents, but some relatively new transplants are making a real nuisance of themselves -- although unlike the colorful characters of the early 20th century gold rush days, these visitors have four legs, not two.
Musk oxen are wandering into the city on the Seward Peninsula, and despite loud noises, water hoses and even a blow-up bear coated in ursine urine, they don't want to leave.

“Rain”
Oh what a lovely sounding word.
So glad i installed ceiling fans.....
Downpours, roads flooding, the whole mess. It’s supposed to let up through tonight, and maybe stop by Thursday.
There is no firewall in the attic so whatever odors the neighbor produces find their ways to me. The worst offenders are the HVAC ducts, and each time the A/C cycles, the smoke comes in. They are trying to get non-smokers in here, but of course, that will happen by attrition.
My lungs are so compromised (Pertussis as a toddler, collapsed lung from a car accident, and smoking for 20 years) that I now depend on a nebulizer to allow me to breathe properly.
I also keep two windows slightly open all year long, but in the winter, the second-hand smoke is not an issue, as I use only a space heater for warmth.
Wonderful W00T!
Have a word with the A/C service people and see if Active Carbon filters are available for your Outlets. ‘We’ use them at work to stop smells from travelling through the building .
The Attic is an easy fix....Sheet Polythene, staple gun, Gorilla tape.
instant Stench wall.
It’s always the right time for a kitten picture.
Busdaddy got a tablet for his birthday from his son, with the specific idea of whiling away the time at his numerous medical appointments.
I was going to give him a minimum subscription, but Netflix no longer does gift subscriptions. They offer the first month free. So I will inform him of that, since he has found the joys of iPod music, and has realized there is an entirely new world “out there” that he was oblivious to.
Now that he has a new toy (which I get to set up for him) I’m sure he will spend a lot of time bonding with it! He isn’t a “game” person, but he does like movies!
So stay tuned...
I hope he has fun with it and learns how to work it. I’m quite limited in what I can do with mine, but at least I can check my email and FReep when I’m not at home or we’ve had a computer glitch here.
He is a fast learner, and WANTS to learn, so I’m thinking it will be a very good toy for him.
He has changed over the last week. I can’t even explain it...
Is that good or bad?
I think it’s good, but I will need more time to analyze it. I think his son said some things to him that made him stop and think. Whatever it was, it seems to be something stupendous. (In comparison.)
Well, now!
Those were almost exactly MY words! LOL!
We will await with bated breath the new and improved Busdaddy.
I’m a little on the leery side, but over the last six months, I have seen a few changes I found difficult to accept because they were so “different.” This latest, however, has some verbiage backing it up. Scary, that...
When I get it figured out, I’ll FReepmail you! LOL!
He had a birthday recently. He’s more mature now.
You are such an optimist, Bob. I was more mature at 14 than he is at 63...
I have a birthday soon. I plan to be more mature.
I’ve had my birthday...I want to be less mature...
Or less old.
