Nome is used to rowdy residents, but some relatively new transplants are making a real nuisance of themselves -- although unlike the colorful characters of the early 20th century gold rush days, these visitors have four legs, not two.
Musk oxen are wandering into the city on the Seward Peninsula, and despite loud noises, water hoses and even a blow-up bear coated in ursine urine, they don't want to leave.

Good morning! Moosie did a good job filling in for you during your absence.
I have another load to donate, and this time, it will also help clear the indoor storage areas for some tubs of Christmas items. YAY!
More rain on the way, today, and right now, before the sun is even over the yardarm, it’s 91 degrees.
*tagline*
Normal isn’t what is used to be,
Thanks, Thomas! Neither am I. LOL!
I don’t like the sound of your weather!
You’ll have a great time decorating for Christmas this year. Don’t forget to remind me that even though I thought I was too tired to put up the decorations last Christmas, I was glad I did.
The temp has dropped to 88 and there is a nice breeze. But I keep thinking I hear thunder. And I may, but it’s not close.
In the meantime, the china hutch is in it’s new home and I just cleaned out the bookcase which is going in the vacant spot. I thought of moving the table over closer to the window, but that means moving paintings and the barometer. I don’t think I want to do that right now.
At any rate, I have MORE stuff for the thrift store and I will call at 1000 to schedule a pickup for tomorrow. By the time they come I will have another pickup truck load...
Little by little. But there have been more than a few times when I felt totally overwhelmed by the size of the project, but I keep reminding me that I just do one thing at a time. My hips bother me a lot, now, and I resent that.
There are only three tubs to go, but still eight crates of books. I can go through them as I want, as long as I have the other bookcase in here. Soon, Precious...soon...
There I go again...wandering off at half-staff...I didn’t reply to the last part of your post. My brems, Cisco, my brems!
It was rather exciting to find all the Christmas stuff, so yes, I will have a great time decorating. Lots of shelf sitters for lots of shelves, but I want to also get a shelf elf. That could be fun.
So when I start to decorate, I will remind you to put up the decorations in your house. If you’re tired, just start early and do a little each day!
Now I have to dust off the bookcase. It looks better than the hutch did. Busdaddy has a big kitchen-dining area, about the size of my entire apartment, so it fits in well there.
It’s wonderful that your thrift store is picking up for you. I think The Salvation Army will do that here, if you call and ask. I just don’t have that much stuff at a time.
cute
It’s what I get for having so much stuff in storage. I had to put it in storage because I didn’t have room for it when I moved from a large apartment in Tucson, and couldn’t store it on the patio here.
So some stuff, I bought again, and now I’m just getting rid of all but the stuff I know I can wear and things that mean something to me. The rest can go. But I seem to be doing it in increments.
Still, I can see progress being made!
Afternoon!
Almost noon here
Off to the Scout Shop. I checked the bookshelves for the relevant Merit Badge handbooks for Pat’s camp, but we don’t have any of them.
(((Hugs)))
“This ‘ere horse has an engine problem.”
“That’s common around these parts, sh*t in the air filter.”
“Oh man,,how often i gotta do that then?”
“Huh?”
*choke*
You are incorrigible! LOL!
I’ve worn my cute little self out, and worked up a sweat, and don’t believe for a minute that women “glow” when sweaty! Now I need containers for some books so I can get them outside and out of my way.
Though I hated to part with some, I’ve pared my stuffed critters to the ones that have sentimental value, and the same with the rest of the frog collection. I’m glad to have the room for other things.
Right now, I could use an icy brewski, but I’m not walking in this heat after all the work I’ve done this morning. I’d never get back up the hill!
LOL!
After all that stress and worry, I’ve resigned myself to the fact that my truck is going to sit. My son-in-law, the mechanic, can do it but won’t. My son, the mechanic, would do it but can’t.
No word from Ellis since last week, even though I called to ask him if he was available, and the only other two people I know (both own businesses that repair vehicles) have made mistakes on my trucks that cost me one vehicle and an additional almost $700.
Now, in the summer heat, I’m sure if I am able to find someone I can afford, I will have to add the cost of a battery into the mix.
So I’m going to sit down and shut up and pretend at the moment that I have no vehicle. But it’s easier to walk in the winter than it is in the summer...
I will wait. And if nothing transpires by the end of August, I will put Mr. Bill up for sale. In the meantime, I will continue to hope and pray.
Could you take the battery out and stick it under the sink or something?
