Nome is used to rowdy residents, but some relatively new transplants are making a real nuisance of themselves -- although unlike the colorful characters of the early 20th century gold rush days, these visitors have four legs, not two.
Musk oxen are wandering into the city on the Seward Peninsula, and despite loud noises, water hoses and even a blow-up bear coated in ursine urine, they don't want to leave.

Tom said it went fine. He got 100% on the test of making change correctly. It’s almost as if he’s a National Merit Scholar or something! They will call him within 14 business days.
The fact that he had an interview a week after applying suggests they’re desperate for employees.
I just had lunch - chicken and spinach. That’s only 13 Points for the day; I need to eat more.
I need to see if I have some hamburger in the freezer. If not, I’ll have to cook a turkey breast roast. Then I’ll just slice it and freeze the slices. I also need to defrost the freezer so I can reorganize it. I’m so happy I bought it! It has paid for itself several times.
I have four points left for the day. Looks like salad and tuna again...but I’ll worry about that when I get hungry again. It’s so easy to do this online...
I’m hoping Tom gets called before the 14 days are up. He could use a job. But then, he’s always been the one to do odd jobs for money, hasn’t he? Seems to me I recall you saying as much.
If not, blame it on my branes.
I still have that ugly cough, and I still don’t know what’s up with it. No cold symptoms. Just the cough. Silly.
I’m making a rice and bean casserole. The Offspring will gripe, but they can put ketchup on it.
They told Tom he would need a haircut!
tell them we have become a 3rd world country and it was time to eat like one
:p
Is guess 70% of President Obama operators can’t make change correctly.
*P O S operators.
Mostly I like this conservative keyboard but that particular autocorrect can get annoying.
Just curious, what’s a pretty cough?
I think QuikTrip probably screens out a good percentage of applicants by testing them on making change.
I tell them, “If you don’t want it now, you’ll be hungry when it’s offered again tomorrow.”
Might be a bit moldy by then, heh
We have a refrigerator.
The byos have covered it with ketchup and are eating. It’s funny how things are edible when you’re hungry.
Is it running....
They’re also analyzing the ingredients. The beans are legumes. The tomatoes are fruits. The rice is a grain. The ketchup is ... a vegetable. English ivy is an invasive plant. Poison ivy isn’t really an ivy.
No, it’s just sitting in the kitchen ... but I wouldn’t blame it if it were running.
little scientists
It’s because of the Envirothon competition. We’re not doing it this year, but maybe I’ll organize a team next year, if everyone’s up to grade level in math.
lol
I think it's the fact that he can make change without its becoming a complete disaster.
Look what having someone who can't, in the White House of all places, has done to the country.
It is amazing, to say the least, the number of persons at cash registers that haven’t the slightest idea how to make proper change. Within the past year have encountered approximately seven such persons. Math skills are a dying form of artist to canvas painting in error abundantly on the side doing the counting of proper change. Have found myself helping the cashier to keep the cashier from overcharging or shorting themselves at a minimum of seven times this past year alone and regrettably the year has not ended. Sigh ...
