Musk ox invasion keeps Nome wildlife managers busy
Anchorage Daily News ^ | comJuly 2, 2014 | SEAN DOOGAN

Nome is used to rowdy residents, but some relatively new transplants are making a real nuisance of themselves -- although unlike the colorful characters of the early 20th century gold rush days, these visitors have four legs, not two.

Musk oxen are wandering into the city on the Seward Peninsula, and despite loud noises, water hoses and even a blow-up bear coated in ursine urine, they don't want to leave.

The only conceivable reason to have toast in the morning is with food.

I had cereal instead.

Frank had toast. The other byos had cereal. Tom is cooking eggs to share with Kathleen.

Bill has gone back to bed in a snit because I told him he couldn’t spend the night in a girls’ dorm.

His posing that question must have been an interesting moment. Too bad no cameras were rolling.

Another you-tube chance for fame and fortune shot to blazes.

I was trying to put a movie away last night and I knocked a large jar candle onto my left foot. It broke a bone. I went to put the candle back and missed the dresser top by enough to tip the candle again. This time, it broke so I had glass all over everywhere. And I was barefooted.

I got a couple of cuts on my toes, one on my thumb in picking the larger pieces up, and realized I had no bandaids, was down to three gauze pads, and the “rubber” on the ends of my small ACE bandage and disintegrated and there was only one clip.

I “bandaged” the cuts (bulky) and wrapped my foot as best I could with the ACE bandage. It didn’t hurt last night (neuropathy) but it hurts inside the foot this morning, and a couple of toes are blue and puffy. *sigh*

Can Tom come and fix some eggs for me? Well, just one. Oh wait. The last dozen I bought I just glanced at to make sure they weren’t broken but when I went to boil some eggs, half of them were broken. Never mind. I’ll just have Instant Breakfast again.

Poor Bill. I guess that what he gets for living at home...Mom and Dad get to make the Rules!

He couldn’t understand why we would object; he was just going to be “hanging out.”

Even if there were no other issues, freeloading in the dorms is dishonest ... no matter how many other people do it.

Oh, dear! Makes a person want to wear shoes all the time.

We’re going to the gym in a few minutes. First I have to change Kathleen’s diaper and take some pills for my back.

I was going to try to go to the ER to get it X-rayed, but it would have cost $65. So I figured I’d just wrap it good and elevate it while taking Ibuprofen, which will cause no end of trouble with my stomach. I’m out of bananas again...

Since I was already in bed when this happened, and got up for the movie, it wouldn’t have been logical to put shoes on to walk six feet.

Anyway, I’ve broken enough foot bones to know what to do. I just need the right tools for the job and I can fix anything! Hahahaha!

There went my plans for a walk this morning. :o|

You’re in Nevada, nully, or you’re clumsy? Or you have broken toes?

Anyhow, my back was okay at the gym, but Tom is clumsy and knocked a footrest into my calf. I’ll have a large bruise.

Man. I hate when that happens.
But I’m glad your back is OK.

There is so much I need to do...but I try to keep my foot propped and ice it every hour or so. Darn, that was stupid of me.
