Nome is used to rowdy residents, but some relatively new transplants are making a real nuisance of themselves -- although unlike the colorful characters of the early 20th century gold rush days, these visitors have four legs, not two.
Musk oxen are wandering into the city on the Seward Peninsula, and despite loud noises, water hoses and even a blow-up bear coated in ursine urine, they don't want to leave.

Lawyer kitteh has ended a sentence with a preposition. That is something up with which I shall not put.
I think you’re expecting too much of a cat.
And with that, off to the gym with my pack of byos and their Queen of Evil.
My dogs, however, use perfect grammar. You may expect much of dogs.
I still don’t allow my dogs to answer the phone for me.
They tend to use ruff language.
What is that fruit? I remember seeing it in childhood, but I can’t for the life of me recall it’s name or it’s use.
Would that be caterwauling?
I watched Sherlock Holmes: The Shadow Games, last night, and it looks, for all intents and purposes, like three stories in a story.
It was as enjoyable as the first Sherlock Holmes. My favorite line in this one: I don’t like horses. They are dangerous at both ends and unpredictable in the middle.
I forgot which movie is next, and I’m too lazy to look up the queue.
Sounds fun!
We’re back from the gym. Shower time!
I'd like to tell it to my dogs, but they're at cello practice right now. After that, they're off to feed the homeless at a local shelter.
Dogs. What can you say?
I don’t think it’s right to feed dog to the homeless. Rice and beans aren’t that expensive.
I’ve been scanning photos that I have to return, and making copies of receipts for Busdaddy (his printer doesn’t copy) and I’ve already worked up a sweat. That means the humidity is up, which means there is a valid reason for my hips to be hurting.
The rest of the day will just have to go along as it goes along.
He’s going to take a CCW course on the 17th, and hopefully, by then, he will have a new handgun. I’ve wanted to take the CCW class and buy a handgun since the first break-in in 1994, but I’ve never had the money to do either. Now, it looks as if I will be buying a handgun from a local pawn shop. It’s what I can afford. I hope. If I don’t have to have a new computer.
And I’m hoping he makes good on his promise to pay for my CCW class...
That is hilarious!
(I really needed it!)
Happy to provide you with a quip when it’s needed!
The children are eating some noodles with butter - we’re all about good nutrition here - and then we will load up again, to drop this and that off here and there, and then go to the library, followed by Naptime.
Did I mention how little anxiety I’ve had this week? If the absent parties would all go to Philmont for a month or the Dominican Republic for a year, I’d be healthy, thin, and save a lot of money on wine.
Fredd update. He has been doing better each day. This morning on our mini-walk he chased chip monks and birds running at full throttle, looked like he was using the hurt leg .
He is still favoring the leg now off and on.
LOL!
” chased chip monks and birds running at full throttle,”
Helps if I put the text I was LOLing at in there, right?
;)
