From what I have read, this sucker comes with a six speed manual or you can spring for the optional eight speed auto with paddle shifters.

Funny you would post that considering it has a Packard built rolls Royce Merlin. Chrysler wishes they could build motors like that. Funny thing about the American Merlins, only Packard could build them well enough to carry the Rolls name and their time to overhaul was more than the native built Merlins. A client of mine has one in his garage sitting on a stand in a display. 1600hp... Yes plz!!!

Its about time Dodge stepped it up. The dyno runs I’ve seen with srt8’s have been miserable compared to Fords 5.0, barely getting 300 to the wheels. Can’t wait to see this hellcat go mile racing. There weren’t many challengers last year but there were a ton of nasty kenne bell mustangs putting down respectable times. Airtech, Billys car, is ridiculous.

The old Hellcats had a lot more horsepower.

...but he always had to get an automatic, cuz his wife couldn’t drive a stick.

When I met my wife 35 years ago (married over 32 years now) we were both in the Air Force and she did not have a car. Since I pulled Alerts and was out at a missile complex at least two times per week I taught her how to drive my car with a manual transmission and let her use it while I was gone.

To this day she would rather drive a manual than an automatic.

Complete with leaf springs and axle hop?
**************************
It’s more modern than that ,, but it’s a one dimensional car... too big and heavy to hustle it’s way around a track .. just straight down a track..

Nowadays, with the technology available, horsepower is not such a big deal, but getting usable power and handling is the real trick now.

In the world of motorcycles, you can now buy a bone-stock 1000cc 4-cylinder sport bike with close to 200hp. If you had that kind of power in the pre-traction control days, you would be toast. Plus the suspensions in use in that time would be rendered as cooked pasta by that much force. Can you say “flexible flyer?” (That was what some called the Kawasaki 2 stroke 750 triples)

I bet it moves from light to light as fast as my truck does in rush hour.

That’s standard on all Dodge vehicles. Check it out. Next time you’re out driving and you get a whiff of burning oil chance are it will be a dodge product, especially a mini can.

Their motto should be meant to go fast but not to last.

Mostly Old Parts And Rust!

Nice!

But that’s a Mustang, not a Hellcat.

The dyno runs I’ve seen with srt8’s have been miserable compared to Fords 5.0, barely getting 300 to the wheels.

Then you haven't seen many, or only sick ones. My stock SRT8 pulled 363 - which equates nicely to the advertised 425 flywheel horsepower.

Ford's new Coyote is a superb engine, no doubt. But the 800 extra pounds carried by the SRT8 make a bit of difference.
