Let me guess.
African American...What a surprise!!
Her promotions came pretty fast when Obama showed up
Hopefully it is transgendered too!
Come on Guys lay off, she actually earned her way to the top and did not demand promotions because she was a Women, I remember her when I was in and truth be told she seemed very Conservative as quite as it was kept. Now i can speak on many others Women in the Officer’s Corp, but I can tell you she earned hers thru hard work unlike many other Politically Correct Chicksh!t Officers.
Oh wait, THAT'S Obama. As for her, umm...
Congrats to Michelle Janine Howard.
When will we get over noticing the gender and/or race of people who succeed? I can’t remember the last time I thought “I can’t believe that *woman/black/asian* got promoted to that level”. I’m pretty sure it was in the ‘70s. In the ‘80s there were some who shouldn’t have been promoted on qualifications (they weren’t allowed to climb the ladder in the 60s/70s and didn’t have the experience) but we had quotas.
These days we may or may not still have quotas but those getting promoted have had opportunity to compete their entire career and they deserve what they’ve got and shouldn’t have anyone questioning how they got there. They may have an edge up over me (an old white male) because of their race/gender, but they deserve the position every bit as much as an equivalent old white male. I can’t believe some people (mostly liberals) are still discrediting them by suggesting that they may be less deserving but that it’s important to get an non-white/non-male into that position.
p.s. If the writer’s goal is to encourage female, or african-american readers, I’d recommend replacing “first female” with “a” in the title. Everything else in the article should be very encouraging to a female or african-american girl. In fact, “first” sounds more scary (will there be another? it must be a Herculean effort.)
Active Duty ping.
I thought that Grace Hopper was the first 4 star admiral, but I could be wrong.
She has long been a favorite of the Black Congressional Caucus. Need not say any more.
