Many years ago, Exxon developed an oil play in the rocks around Rifle, Colorado. There plan was to dig up the mountainside, crush the rocks down to golf ball size, then radiate the rocks to get the oil to squeeze out.
Trouble was, after this process, the golf ball rocks became the size of soft balls and reclaiming the much bigger mountainside proved nearly impossible.
