Now 67?? don’t hold your breath, she’s going on 74. LOL, she was one grade behind me in HS.
I saw her at the Greek Theater (an amphitheater) in Los Angeles, around ten years ago. Her stage set was very simple, just a couch I believe. She sounded wonderful. Her finale was “A Natural Woman, “ which the whole audience (of all her notable songs), was the one we all seemed to know the lyrics to, and which we all sang along, including most of the men.
Just as an aside, I climbed to the back, where there was no one behind me, because I like to dance. Afterwards, these ladies came up to me, and complimented me on my moves, wishing they could move like that.
It was easy, Carole King wrote music you could groove to!
Also, when I used to hike with friends and new acquaintances, I used to lead everyone in the songs from her Tapestry album. It seems we all played them on our parent’s stereo cabinet growing up.
“You make me feel like a natural woman. Woman!”
