She may be an A-list movie star, but Keira Knightley gives herself an annual allowance of only $50,000 to live on.
Its something around that, the 29-year-old British actress told Glamours July issue. I mean, if I want or need something that goes over that, I get it, but, yes, around that.
But why so little to begin with? Keira Knightley Reveals Why She Was Bullied for Wearing
I think living an [expensive] lifestyle means you cant hang out with people who dont live that lifestyle, Knightley told the magazine. It alienates you. Some of my best, most hilarious times have been in the least luxurious places.
Knightley has already shown the world her thrifty side, when she repurposed a favorite Chanel dress to wear for her wedding to rocker James Righton last year.

Ach Jock, he said, time for new wallpaper?
Oh noh, he replied, I’m moving.
“Knightley has already shown the world her thrifty side, when she repurposed a favorite Chanel dress “
My wife wishes she had a Chanel dress to repurpose ...
“Well good for her. At least unlike many celebrities she may not end up broke later on.”
How does she make payments on her $6,500,000 home on $50,000 a year?
“Just an allowance. I wonder what it covers. Food, shelter, utilities, clothes, domestic help, travel, insurance, etc.?”
It certainly doesn’t cover her $6,500,000 home.
I have to watch her in Pride and Prejudice about once a year. A great job.
That’s funny because when she did a guest spot on Bones, she played Dr. Brennan’s cousin, and she spent the entire episode quoting Ben Franklin, especially his quotes on being thrifty.
Perhaps she paid cash.
My guess is the “allowance” covers walking around money, clothing, etc. She probably pays cash for the big ticket items. Still a prudent plan.
Of course when you’re famous you do get a lot of stuff for free.
Keira Knightley has most of her travel expenses paid for by the various studios. Many actors have homes paid for by the studios.
She lives in a mult million dollar home. I think she is saying 50k is what she spends outside of all the other expenses.
“Perhaps she paid cash.”
Oh, I get it. She lives on $50,000 a year except for all the things she pays cash for ...
Sounds like walking around money.
I’m sure that $50k is only running around money. She probably considers living expenses separate.
“I think she is saying 50k is what she spends outside of all the other expenses.”
Ok. She lives on 50k a year except for her expenses.
I’m not a huge period romance guy, but I have to say if we’re talking Pride and Prejudice the old BBC version blows the Knightly one clean out of the water. The one with her in it just felt like a overly-simplified, semi-cluelessly made chick flick, while the BBC one just immerses you in the period impeccably and really does justice to the novel.
It wouldn't cover the taxes. I think she's using celebrity math.
Maserati Quatros are a giant ball of (very pretty) poop. I work for a bank, we wont finance one under just about any circumstances. A 13000 dollar 06 GTO will do about the same thing, while looking boring to cops.
Exactly...I could do some damage if I had $50K in spending cash over and above my living family expenses.
Zooey was recently nominated for a Golden Globe for her role on the sitcom New Girl. Here are the basic details about her finances:
and that's not counting money made from her business, her band and movies...
