Former President Bill Clinton will be the subject of an unusual musical called, appropriately enough, Clinton.
The satire about the 42nd commander in chief features two stars because he led two parallel lives, says book writer Paul Hodge of the show that launches next month at the New York Musical Theatre Festival.
For years, Bill Clintons troubling two-sidedness has had tongues wagging.
Now, with wife Hillary poised for a presidential run, it has musical theater performers belting.
It takes two actors to play the 42nd commander in chief in Clinton, a singing satire that capitalizes on the comment that theres a Sunday morning Bill and a Saturday night Bill.
Clinton needs to be played by two actors because he led two parallel lives, says book writer Paul Hodge, 26, whose show launches July 18 at the New York Musical Theatre Festival.
Ive always been interested in politics, says Hodge, who grew up in Queensland, Australia, and now lives in London. Clinton was such a pivotal President and fascinating human being he was a natural for a musical.
Karl Kenzler portrays the smart and sober WJ Clinton, while Duke Lafoon gets busy as the sexed-up wild man Billy Clinton.
