This redone trailer makes you want to go out and joust.
It’s one of my all time favorite movies and extremely well done and holds up very well!
Love the original. Semi-recently found it for a buck at a thrift store. Yup. It holds up.
I didn’t see anything new in the trailer. I used to think that movie was the actual story of King Arthur. It’s not even close, however. It takes some of the stories and changes the characters as well as the context to create something entirely different. Still, it’s one of my favorite movies.
There wasn’t anything new - it was just another guy’s view on how he’d do the trailer - using original scenes.
I don’t think Boorman set out to make a documentary.
Where I learned my love for Wagner and Carl Orff as a 10 year old. And still love to this day..
There are many different versions of the King Arthur legend. Some details very from account to account.
Oh, a trailer, not a film redux. Duh. It’s obviously not a documentary, just a lot of artistic license. On the CD jacket one reviewer says “one lush, enraptured scene after another”. It’s true.
I think it was shot entirely in Ireland. Lush is an understatement.
I have the CD with the orchestral version of Wagner’s ‘The Ring’ music used in the movie. And by my favorite conductor no less, Klaus Tennstedt. It has some amazing stuff that’s not in the movie, such as Wotan’s Farewell.
Especially when you go into some of the celtic myths and legends that form some of the foundations for the story.

Yes, Sigfrieds Funeral march still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Wagner was a anti-semetic dick, but god could he make music. And Orffs O-Fortuna amazing also.
I think Python was closest ;)
EXC had a lot to do with my ongoing love of fantasy novels/movies. Inspired a few video games as well IIRC. Not the movie tie in kind or the ‘based on’, but just in general to the genre.
Oh one of the best. One of my Favorite from the Ring is Brunhildes Immolation. And of Course Ride of the Valkries and Magic fire music. Like I said a total D=-= was Wagner but he was a true Genius.
Still one of my all time favorites.
It works better with the original soundtrack, which is the work of Richard Wagner.
All the chorus, upbeat music, may appeal to those born, not to relish the original mythos, and why Waqner was chosen.
Highly recommend this movie — for the music alone if nothing else.
The score’s use of Wagner is ingenious.
I would Hit Helen Mirren...even today
