There are lots of search sites if you google the name. You’ll have to pay something however.

My first question would be does your lost relative want to be found?
If not your search will be harder because perhaps he/she has limited their online presence because they want to keep their privacy.
Try to see if they have a Facebook account, or Twitter account and try typing in their name correctly spelled with their last known city and state into google. Also, if you know their profession enter that into google with their name and see what pops up.
Sorry if this is all rather obvious, if they don’t have much of an online presence your best bet will be to find their last residence and go from there.

Post on your Facebook that you are looking for lost relatives. That you just inherited a trust fund worth millions.
THAT will bring out all the lost relatives you never ever even knew you had.
(Including moi. Can you spot me 10 grand till the estate clears? Thanks in advance.)

I don’t know if you’re looking for a man or woman, but FWIW, I’ve found that classmates.com is a good place to find female relatives because they’re listed under their maiden names there.

If your relative is long lost or likely dead try genealogy sites.

Is there anyone you know in the place where your relative last lived who may be able to check on their status in person? A local church, maybe?

Run for office as a conservative. The opposition will find all relatives and other associates.
