But Up in the Air was total Clooney. While I “enjoyed” watching the film (it was unpleasant and one of us had just been laid off), I felt tricked. There is no way a married mother of young kids could get away for a family wedding weekend and never be texting or calling home. That was a cheap fake out.
They are all “suspend disbelief” movies, aren’t they? Your enjoyment depends how much the movie requires you to set aside practical realities such as the one you pointed out.
The new “24 - Live Another Day” requires you to suspend disbelief to an absurd extent, almost to the point of making the whole thing just plain silly and dopey. Yet I keep coming back for more.
