With an opening weekend take of $28 million, Tom Cruises new sci-fi film Edge of Tomorrow which debuted June 6 did even worse than his last sci-fi movie, 2013s Oblivion. In the last eight years, Cruise has had only one hit (2011s Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol). It looks like hes nearing the end of his run as a major movie star, though well see how Mission: Impossible 5 does when it comes out next year.

The UK is who is pumping out the leading man actors.
The only person I would have a beer with on the list is Vince Vaughn. The rest of them all seem like intolerably boring people.
Actually, I do have a little respect for Tom Cruise. There was a red carpet event for War of the Worlds and some jerk played a prank with a water squirting microphone and sprayed him right in the face. Rather then throw a big hissy fit Cruise grabbed the guys arm and confronted him, “Why would you do that?” and puts the guy in his place.
The sequel to Dumb&Dumber did not have to be made. Besides, his co-star has aged some, and looks too dignified to sit there with uncombed hair and making silly faces. Reminds me of the last movies Jerry Lewis made in character before he finally, mercifully stopped going on camera like that; A 60 y/o trying to act 16 is not a pretty sight.
You’re a suitor!
Clooney has done a couple films where he didn’t play George Clooney. I thought he was hilarious in “Brother, Where Art a Thou.” The problem is he doesn’t do enough roles like that.
The French will always love this man, as Gerard Depardieu personifies (on screen and in life) much of their essence from a certain perspective.
They will eventually ‘forgive’ him for ditching the sky high French taxation (78%?!)on earned income and moving to Putin’s Russia. Meanwhile, Gerard feigns regret, sorrow and contrition when he visits France. Well, he is an actor.
Russia has always had a very high regard for all things French. According to Tolstoy’s War and Peace, they had a grudging respect for Napoleon’s incredible boldness and willing to take chances. Most unfortunate, they quickly add, that Napoleon’s last big gamble of invading via the Russia forest during winter, did not pay off at all. Tsk Tsk!
I agree, but with one exception: The Waterboy.
.
No ACTING chops.
Just does the same thing over and over.
Sean Connery was older than all of these guys and was listed as the sexiest man in '89, when he was 60.
Look at Hackman or Duvall. They are older. But they have REAL acting chops.
Because they played manly men?
The best acting in the Ocean’s movies was by Andy Garcia.
I enjoyed his acting to some extent until he made that brilliant comment to Odumbo’s detractors, “He’s your president!”
Now I despise this idiot.
I enjoy Cruise as an actor, but that’s it!
Agreed. He had some good parts long ago, but now, way too much paint and homosexual parts or slants. I am done with him.
Oh...and The Quick And The Dead.
I think Tom Cruise can act. I saw him in Magnolia and was really impressed. Most of the time he’s doing action flicks, but... he can act. I can’t argue with the rest of what you say, though. He does come across as weird.
