Animal rights activists want Metallica booted from the Glastonbury music festival because frontman James Hetfield is an enthusiastic hunter, the Telegraph reports.
A Facebook page calling for their removal, launched shortly after the History Channel announced that Hetfield will narrate its new series about bear hunting, already has over 27 thousand likes.
The page says that Hetfields support of big game hunting is incompatible with the spirit of Glastonbury and brings its good name into disrepute.
Hetfield, who once admitted that he missed his sons birthday while hunting bears in Russia, is a member of the NRA and has described himself as pretty conservative on a lot of things. I love nature, he said in a 1993 interview with Rolling Stone. I love the wilderness, and there is not much more of it left. It makes me hate people. Animals, they dont lie to each other. There is an innocence within them. And theyre getting...

They are long on the stock market?
Metallica and Megadeth. Dave Mustaine is an unabashed conservative as well.
That might get them kicked out too, evil capitalists!
Me too! That’s awesome!!!
It’s time to “Fight Fire with Fire.”
Several of the older rock and roll artists are conservative. Some of them may have sold songs that weren’t exactly conservative, but I guess they needed to make a few bucks too!
They just got older and wiser.
You ushered at that concert or you’re a Metallica fan? Either one, that is awesome!
I got to see them for free in ‘94 at Otay Mesa in San Diego. My best friend there was a San Diego sheriff’s deputy, and had to work that day. His Wife had tickets, and they asked me to go with her to make sure she was safe.
I miss those folks. Good people.
He kills the bears with his bare hands and wears the pelts, still bloody, for his shows.
Never heard a Metallica song in my life. Suddenly hunting is illegal? Hunting phobia? When will this crap stop? Never.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
Dave Mustaine refuses to tour with openly satanic or anti Christian bands. He even managed to get a band called “Cannibal Christ” kicked off a tour because he told the promoters that it was him or them.
He was in Israel a few months back just taking a vacation. He said that there was no better way of supporting our friend than economically.
Notice the Gadsden flag and the visit with the disabled veteran where he buys a buddy poppy?

You called my name? Lol
My late Aunt had the guys from Slipknot in her daycare as tikes. They’re conservatives, too, IIRC.
I love Metallica as well but I refuse to listen to them regularly as long as they got the biggest douchebag drummer in the world Lars Ulrich in their band. Someone show me one example of that dickweed talking to another human being without forcing that person to look up his nostrils. He is the definition of an asshat.
I’m a hard rock kind of guy (if I were king, I’d put Ronnie James Dio in all his gnome-like glory on the $20 bill). Never been a big Metallica fan, though - that speed/thrash stuff just never did it for me. But Hetfield sounds like a guy I could sit down and have a beer with. If those tree-hunching Glastonwussy types had a brain or a place to put one, they’d soon realize that hunters and anglers are the best, most efficient, most environmentally-respectful stewards of the wilderness of anyone else in humanity. We take the pulse, the vital signs, of nature every time we venture out into it, and we’re well-aware of it’s savage demeanor. I have eternally maintained that there’s a very stark contrast between ‘environmentalists’ and ‘conservationists’. And I’m eternally pissed that the lines and definitions have been co-oped and warped into a propaganda tool.
