The world's biggest uterine tumour, weighing 30lbs and measuring 21 inches in diameter, has been removed from an Indian woman.
Doctors in the southern city of Chennai performed a complex operation on a 52-year-old woman identified as Latha.
She had been suffering breathlessness and fatigue for several years but had no idea the giant tumour - similar to the size of a watermelon - was growing inside her.

Wow. AT first, I misread the typography. I thought it said the tumor was 301 lbs, when it was really 30 lbs, which is big enough. She must have been rather hefty for an indian woman not to have thought the ongoing protrusion was strange.
Then again, she likely did not have any insurance.
We have full coverage insurance, which used to be a good thing, would cover things like surgery and tests. Now it pays so little. I can’t afford to have any tests done, and it is a Gold Plan/Cadillac type policy through a major corporation.
Years ago in Houston, a woman went in to have a large tumor removed from her uterus. Turn out to be a full-term, healthy baby.
Back in the early 70s, I knew a 17-year-old girl who looked about seven months’ pregnant, turned out to be a uterine tumor. She went from looking pregnant to having a nice flat tummy after having it removed. She was the victim of gossip, cruel classmates thinking she had been pregnant. She made the medical records at the time.
