I got a FIREPOWER magazine from the 1980s in which a 2 liter soda bottle was placed over the barrel of a .22. It worked so well a manufacturer came up with a cheap connector.

Then the BATF demanded it be taxed out of existence.

Also, must use subsonic ammo.

Using a plastic water bottle. I drill a hole in a rubber plug the diameter of the barrel and the stopper is the size that fits the plastic bottle. Works pretty good. There are other kinds my dad showed me. The BATF can go pound sand.
