...the White House is dealing with what it calls an “urgent humanitarian situation” — tens of thousands of unaccompanied minors crossing the U.S.-Mexico border. Rep. Tom Cole of Oklahoma voiced his opposition to the practice of housing these children at Fort Sill in Lawton, Okla.
In a statement, he writes:
Fort Sill Military Base in Lawton is expected to begin housing at least 600 unaccompanied minors who illegally immigrated to the United States. Since fiscal year 2011, the number of these individuals, usually from Central America, has grown from 6,000 to 66,000 last year. By next year, this number is expected to climb even higher to 127,000.
Using Fort Sill and other military bases to house illegal immigrants is simply an inappropriate use of military facilities. Moreover, I am concerned that what begins as an emergency measure could, over time, evolve into a permanent juvenile detention center for those who have entered the country illegally. This could result in a confusion of missions at what is the one of America’s premier military installations.

Let us pause a moment and give thanks to Republicans like Rick Perry who fought so valiantly against the physical fence that would have kept every single one of these illegals out of America, had it been built.

We the citizens and taxpayers have to pay for this in more ways than one. Going from 6,000 illegal minors a few years ago to and expected 127,000 next year because Obama wants to make them voters is unsustainable.
They can clean up the impact zone.....
This is probably a dumb question, but if they are minors-under the age of 18-shouldn’t they be sent back to their parents in Guatemala, or wherever?
Put them in orphanages. See how that works out.

My question, exactly!! It is ridiculous and outrageous that literally bus-loads of "minors", thousands of less-than-18-year-olds, are getting into the country, swarming the border unimpeded...it's almost unimaginable! How can this be permitted to go on?!
As someone else said, it's simply not sustainable, not to mention against all our laws. Even worse if true, I also heard that some of these "children" are accompanied by their mothers, who are also allowed to stay and are given every assistance (food, shelter, transportation)...unbelievable.
Perhaps our new motto should be, "women and children first"...to be turned around and sent back!!! Sheesh. I mean, why NOW? and HOW? are they getting here and across the border?! in such greatly increased numbers??
Grappling hook babies. Obama will get them as far from the border as possible and integrate them in to the syatem to ensure they will never be deported and their family will join them. All at tax payer expense.
True, but if there is a fence we spent a few billion building, the people paying for it might want it used as intended regardless of what Liberals say. The whole mentality of the country would be different.
And yes, Holder and anyone he knows should be impeached.
